NOTE: The following rant DOES NOT apply if micgo is neither a native speaker of the english language, nor has extensive background with it as a second language. This added because it almost reads like it could be a poster who isn't. If micgo fits the above catagory, then KUDOS (about the same as a pat on the back for a good job or attempt) for your willingness to communicate with us in a language unfamiliar or new.micgo wrote:sorry i m new to this , i did nmake clean , and then when i do nmake it's say
makefile<2> : fatal error u1025: syntax error : !ENDIF unexpected Stop.
i m thinking i need to do it nmake <filename> ? which file i need to use to compile ?
thx
What it should have said is something like, "I'm new to this and am getting an error, when following the instructions. The error I run 'nmake clean' is... "makefile<2> : fatal error u1025: syntax error : !ENDIF unexpected Stop." Am I supposed to run it as "nmake <filename>" when I try to compile? Thank you, in advance."
If the rant doesn't apply to you, don't bother reading it unless you enjoy reading my unsolicited comments.

Maybe it's my age. Maybe it's just that I'm a big fucking asshole.
I just LOVE how our tax dollars for education are doing our nation's children so much good. (Yeah, that's sarcasm if you can't tell.)
What makes you think you are capable of doing JACK SHIT with something on the command line in the first place if you CANNOT write a proper grammatically correct sentence?!?
What is so hard about writing "I am" or "I'm" instead of this "i m" crap. You're not typing in a fast moving environment here. Take the time to be as correct as you can with spelling, grammar, and structure. It's a good damn start to being able to do ANYTHING else here. You can't write a piece of code or macros by "shortcutting."
Yeah, it takes more time to write it well, however, it makes you seem more intelligent than that crap you posted above. Now do yourself a favor and go back to your 3rd grade english teacher and spit on his/her shoes and say, "Thanks for NOT making me learn who to write better." Rinse and repeat with each of your teachers who were responsible for teaching you your english writing skills.
Feel free to tell me to fuck off, as if I give a shit about what someone who can't write a proper sentence thinks.|/RANT|
Would you believe I cleaned this up a LOT before I posted it?
One of the reasons this is an issue for me is that I know most of you aren't stupid, dumb, morons. Some of it, but not enough, is pure laziness. Far too much is due to a school system that is, in many ways, broken and in desperate need of massive reform; throwing money at it and forcing you to pass standardized tests will not work.
Schooling based on standardized testing serves one purpose, to teach you how to pass a specific test. Learning to pass a test does not teach you to think, more than anything it's about memorizing specifics about a small bit of information that later on will be useful only on Jepardy (tm).
The good jobs don't go to people with poor communications skills. And yes, incase you did not realize, writing IS a communications skill.
Have a good day.
