Magus Macro well kinda... :)

Post by eqaussie » Thu Apr 08, 2004 7:17 am

Im looking for a macro that i can use to walk me to a LDoN camp.

I figure that the Magus is present in each camp, targetting them and moving to them.

Unfortunately, i have no idea how to do this :)

Hope someone has an idea...

EG:
You zone into everfrost peaks
/macro magus
targets the magus and starts walking you to the camp.

Don't the "targets" go through server-side ?
I seem to remember some argument about scanning for a possible mob by targeting everything around you and conning for a level check, and why this was deemed a "bad-thing"

If your at Dagnors Cauldron, and you /target magus, or at Kaladim.. One thinks if its server-side, its definitely visible that your utilizing some sort of "aid" in-game. If its not, how do you get your target, by last known co-ords from zone-in? The last positional update from your immediate player area?

Just trying to instill a general feeling of paranoia amongst the people... It promotes longer lives. If this is completely bogus, simply allow me excrete my foul and contemptious odor in an otherwise likely direction...

Yes the target is sent to the server.

This won't work very well anyway because following the npc will just walk you in a straight line towards it and you would probably get stuck somewhere sooner or later. In some zones like sro and nro you could get away with some simple collision detection and avoidance (for example, see if you're still moving, if not take a few steps back, turn a few degrees, then go forward again). In other zones this won't work.

What you want to do is use advpath like someone before me suggested and record paths from various places to the magus. Then you just check where you are from your macro and choose the most appropriate recorded path and play it back.
