This one is too easy. I'd almost feel bad for flaming him so....

Dear sir,

MacroQuest is a program that needs to be updated everytime SOE patches eqgame.exe, but then you'd know that if you read a few posts on the board or scimmed the manual.

Once they release the new download you'll have to recompile it just like you did the first time. I usually extract it into a completely new folder and copy my MQ2Auth0.h file from the old MQ2Main folder into the new one. Then compile it and move the compiled files to whatever folder you use to run the program. This has to be done any time eqgame.exe is changed (which you can see while EQ is patching). It can take up to a couple days for them to realease a new MQ2 depending upon what they need to do/find to fix it, so patience is your friend.

HTH

lucke013:

We get this same question ever time there is a patch. The first thing people do is ask "why isn't it working", instead of either reading the manual or using the board Search feature to find the answer.

After several YEARS of this people tend to get a little curt around patch time. Believe it or not, for post-patch MQ that WAS polite.

So... I'll sum things up. MQ depends on various memory offsets in eqgame.exe. Every time eqgame.exe is updated (patched) those memory locations change, and we have to find them all over again. This can take hours or days, depending on how much time people have to devote and how much the patch has changed things.

In addition, we use various data structures (structs) in MQ to reflect the way data is laid out and processed in EQ. An extensive patch can cause those structs to shift and "break", and we have to rebuild them.

Amadeus is the "king of structs" here, and he's away till the weekend. That means that even if we successfully find all the offsets certain things may remain broken, or new bugs might crop up.

The only solution is to be patient, and wait for us to fix things. If you are knowledgeable enough to update offsets, please look for the appropriate thread and post what you find. If not, wait for the wheels to turn and for us to grind out a new version.

I am just curious. Does it use the same offsets of WSEQ?

It is nothing personal against you, or even the manner in which you posted, but as he said, everyone is busting ass trying to get this working, well, everyone but me, because frankly I am just a troll. I dont even own a pc. but back on topic..... They are busting as s to fix it, and this question pops up 2 or 3 times per patch.

what about a Warning in GREAT BIG RED LETTER on Main side ?
- like

EQ PATCHED !!! - STANDBY - WE WORKING ON IT
- with URL pointing on the (forgive me - im tired ;). . ) thread searching
offsetz ? )

MQ2 WORKING IN PARTS - NEXT TIME STATUS UPDATE - Keep Cool
- with URL pointing on the thread MQ2::General topic ?)

MQ2 IS WITH YOU - LUKE - !
- with URL pointing on the topic RTFM ;) ?

- Itz not for me - but i think i takes not mutch time and kills some
questions - about the "what to do" - "wahts goin wrong" etc. threads ...

.. hmm dunno to who i should send this thread ( was plazmic the dealer of this Board ? ) so i push it after this thread ....
