$spawn(id,hp,pct) doesnt seem to work

If I do

/target pc @MasterName
/varset MasterID $target(id)

then later (inside a loop)

/if n $spawn(@MasterID,hp,pct)<20

it only seems to work if the PC is targeted. If the PC is not targeted the HP value is never updated.

Is there any way of getting this to work without specifically targetting @MasterName?

eg.

/target pc @MasterName
/if $target(hp,pct)<20

would do what I want, but I get all this targetting spam on the telnet link which I would prefer to avoid.

Nope no way to do it, server doesn't send hp updates for non-group members unless you have them targeted.

Does this mean that every time you target something, it gets sent to the server or does the client request info about a particular spawn (your target)? Seems to me that you can target stuff a lot faster than you could send the packets to the server, that's why I'm thinking the latter.

If it is the former wouldn't the method of searching for spawns by '/target next' that I've seen many macros use be a bad thing (pretty easy to detect)?

every time you target something its ID is sent to the server. If you loose your target its reprted as well.
