BUG eqgame.exe remains in memory after EQ shutsdown

Post by hardarac » Fri May 16, 2003 12:34 pm

Hey

Not sure if this has been reported before ... If it has ...sorry

After shuting dowwn EQ ... or crashing out the eqgame.exe remains in task manager ..... therefore in memory ..... is this a known problem?

It can killed off ... and if u shut MQ down before exiting EQ it doesnt remain.

aye, /unload before camping will fix this problem, I'm not sure if it's being worked on... either way, it seems to be rather low priority, and everyone is aware of it.

Guess this would be a good time to tell y'all.... when /click and /mouseto are added back in, /unload will definately unload ya, all the way back to the desktop... Afraid fixing that has been low on my priority of clicky mousey parse thingy fixes, since usually my parser blasts me back out anyway.

I've had some issuse with this TSR type behavior... EQW HATES it... it can normally get over it for a while, but eventually I can only get one copy up and running, rebooting completely is the only fix I've found, isn't a HUGE problem, but kills my uptime on AIM and IRC. =(

don't tell me, let me guess... win9x?

see if you can get procview (or something similar) and kill it with that.

Actually both XP and 2k, more often in XP... but I've gone 7 days w/o seeing it happen... so it's more like a reboot fairy telling me when "it's time"

it's very easy to kill that process in XP, just open your task manager, go to processes, right click eqgame.exe, and kill it...

Ah thanks for posting this fix, I was having this problem for the longest time. In win98 you can't kill the eqgame.exe afterwards for some reason so after there were a few of them there I just had to restart.
