#1 ) Is the info regarding the mobs in EQ always sent out, and only tracking classes given the abilities to view these packets, OR do they actually request this information from the EQ servers?

(SHOW EQ would make me think it's out there all the time)

#2 ) If senario #1 is the case of the above question, a simple packet sniffer / snopper shouldn't alter anything at all, and function perfectly, although it might not be as nice as last time. Seeing how you got the EQ servers to tell you exactly what mobs are up.

(This meaning you will have to have a second window open)

#3 ) I don't see how it is possible to have it done even remotely close to the way it used to be, but all info that is out for the taking is readily accessable. I honestly think, now that will be the extent of the functions that will be able to be SAFELY performed.

I only saw one question in this post and really did not understand just what you wanted, but here is your answer to the question:

Yes, all the data on all the current mobs in the zone is kept on the client and is updated by the server constantly.

And if all you want is mob data get ShowEQ. It's even less risky than MQ (if used intelligently), since it doesn't alter the client memory and hence the data stream.

ShowEQ is usually uncovered by SOE via petitions. People track targets they couldn't possibly see or find, and someone complains about it. The Guides then go watch that person to try to catch them.

ShowEQ was always a hard one to prove, unlike blatant hacks suck as EQSpeed.

Well Show EQ would be perfect if it didn't require you to have a second unix running computer. Not saying I don't know how to use unix, I used to network Solaris 8. Since all most people used it for was tracking mobs, seeing if they where up, and targeting ... and the ocassional /face corpse for those lost corpses.....

If you have a suggestiong that will give me tracking features, that don't require me to have a second computer, then reply with what, and where to get it.

Also, the network communications between the server and EQ client is encrypted. The session key can be taken from client memory so that it is possable to decrypt that data, but the translation of the packets would take some work. ShowEQ has been broke for some time and the devs on sourceforge are not at all interested in fixing it.
