Search parameters

Post by I_will_call_him_george » Sat Apr 08, 2006 3:30 pm

What are the parameters (arguments) used for the search engine, other than and/not/or? ("filename and inc" won't work either) If I want to search for filename.inc as verbatim? Using it as is I get every post that has a refernce to "inc" instead of just "filename.inc". I tried using quotes "filename.inc" like in google but still every post with the word "inc" comes up. I also tried both query options and still get posts with "inc" as well. So how do I search for specific names?

Thanks.

search for "spell_routines inc" and make sure the "Search for all terms" button is selected.

Hi and thanks for the fast response.

I tried that way with and without the dot using search for all terms.

Ex: "move.inc" & "move inc"

However I still get general not specific query.

Code: Select all

|* <options> include:
|*
|* Begin - Move empty slots to the beginning.
|* Close - Close bags after sorting is done.
|* Dual - Sort left and right slots as seperate arrays.
|* End - Move empty slots to the end.
|* Reverse - Sort in reverse order.
|* Spell - Sort spells by level first and name second.
|* Stack - Sort by quantity first and name second.
|*
|* Note that the options Begin and End are exclusive and cause odd
|* behavior when used together. I could check for this but maybe someone
|* will find a use.
|*
|* Valid start and end addresses are bank1 to bank16 (2000 to 2015), pack1
|* to pack8 (22 to 29), or sharedbank1 to sharedbank2 (2500 to 2501). If
|* no addresses are given, then the entire bank is sorted if the bank
|* window is open or the entire inventory is sorted if the inventory window
|* is open. Slots without bags are ignored. Items not in bags are ignored.
|*
|* The bank window must already be open before sorting the bank or sharebank.
|*
|* Installation:
|*
|* Save as CSORT.MAC with the first Sub named main.
|*
|* or
|*
|* Save as CSORT.INC with the first Sub named CSORT and use #include CSORT.INC
|*
|* PoR:
|*

As in the example search it will return many posts that contain the word INC and MOVE that are unrelated to move.inc

So is the search engine capable of doing name specific queries?

Thanks again.

Nope, it's the standard phpbb2 search function. If you know of phpbb2 plugin for better searches, I can install it. Otherwise, check the wiki and possibly create a page with links to include files.

I used google with move.inc and macroquest as my parameters.

Kinda old thou, its from 2004. not sure if this is the newest one.
It's also on page 3 when you search move.inc on the forums.

It was an example, you pompous asshat. Sorry for the perhaps pre-emptive flaming I guess, but too many people post stuff on forums without even making an effort to search; which annoys me.

You do realize that he was asking if there was a better way to search?

And yes having a search engine bring back mq1 code about foraging when you are searching for a plugin that plays music is a bad thing.

He asked nicely about the search engine.

You are a flaming retard that just called Dkaa a pompous asshat.

People who reply to posts without reading them annoys me( The search engine doesnt really work all that well, at least not with popular topics, dont think there's much that can be done tho.

And if there are more than just the 3 listed on the search page, a complete list of search parameters in the wiki would be grand :)

I agree I have had trouble with finding stuff with the search feature.

Going down the Google path...

Try this in the Google search field.

Code: Select all

move.inc site:www.macroquest2.com
got much better results, However I have no clue how recent the results are.
