How far a game goes...

Post by Night Hawk » Thu Nov 11, 2004 4:15 am

I think how far a game goes really shows the work put into it. At first, I didn't think I would be liking EQ2, and after reading, and reading, talking to people, and watching a few recordings/looking at screen shots, I think this game is really gonna be great.

I thought this was a really cool part for some reason ;)
For example Ultravision gives everything a purplish hue. In infravision you see the heat signatures of things. And this is actually incorporated into the game more than just graphically. Infravision might be great in a Gnoll camp at night, but in an Undead tunnel you won't see squat. Every creature in the game has been flagged as Warm-Blooded, Cold-Blooded or No-Blooded. So everything will show up in varying degrees of blues, reds and oranges, or just not show up at all. Walking down that aforementioned tunnel in Infravision you'd think it was completely safe and clear of enemies until that first blow landed on your unprepared skull.

There are a whole lot of things that are super cool in EQ2, such as the gryphon transportation system. The first time i used that i was like *whoa!*

the first time I used the "airplanes" I was like "cool... I can see the map fast this way." I like the kitty vision which lets me see everything... at least everything up to this point.
