I do believe that this is what incensed Lax, and everyone else. If you had worded it differently things might not have gone the way they have. Honestly though, it wasn't just your post. It was a lot of shit that Lax just got fed up with. This was pretty much the straw that broke the camel's back.

And released it under the GPL... yes, you can quit maintaining it, but you cannot fork the the project and close the source.

Clarification:
I hold the copyright to most of MacroQuest 2. The original MacroQuest and the portions of it that still exist in MacroQuest 2 are owned by Plazmic.

Ok, Out of curiousity. Arent the plugins technically not part of the Macroquest 2 source code. That Macroquest 2 is just the core program that is under the GPL but the plugins themselves are seperate entities just packaged together for ease of distribution, that was my gathering.

EDIT: On an asside. I looked thru all the source files. Only the files for MQ2main.dll list that they are released under GPL
EDIT Addional: I assume that the macroquest2.exe itself is not GPL'd given that there is no source for it nor a letter detailing how to obtain the source.

Again, this is just for my own clarification, not as a flame or argument. If you wish to reply to me via PM that is fine also. I have never had to release any of my personal stuff under GPL. I am not a lawyer. And I would just like to have a better understanding of how it works.

Code:
18 July 2004 by Lax
- EQPlayNice 1.11+ compatibility
Seems I missed something in last few days.. So now to have the effects of EQplaynice while running MQ2 we should load both? I honestly only ask because in the past it was bad news to load both.

Thanks for the work everyone.

MQ2FPS (the plugin version of EQPlayNice) was removed from MQ2 general. The change you quote is to let people know that they can now use EQPlayNice while running MQ2. There isn't a conflict, since the FPS plugin is not there.

MacroQuest and portions of MQ2 are GPL. The injector is not and there is no reason plugins must be GPL. Personaly, I think way too many people are using MQ2. Non contributors that dont share macros or help with the coding efforts of this project should contribute.

If you cant afford to contribute then you cant afford the $12 a month to play EQ. While I appreciate the work done by past and present developers, its time to draw a line in the sand.
