I finally did it.

Post by Glasscoin » Fri Jun 11, 2004 1:30 am

I'm free.
Gave all my droppables to my guild, sold my account, and deleted EQ.

It just occured to me one night that EverQuest I'm playing right now isn't the same EverQuest I've had so much fun over the last years. It truly has lost the sense of non-linearity and freedom that was the reason EverQuest was so appealing to me in the first.

I have a shitty job in real life. I don't need a job that costs me 13 bucks a month.

But, I anxiously look forward to Vanguard. See you all in... 10 years.

Hasn't it changed so much though?

Remember the days when seeing a warrior in full bronze was amazing? Or to actually MEET someone with a surname :) When every spawn point in Lower Guk was camped :)

As bug-riddled as the original EQ was, before any expansions (not that those weren't bug-riddled also), I'd trade it all for those first few months of EQ. When people didn't know every spawn, every drop, every spell. There was still some guessing involved, some hope, a dash of luck.

I know a lot of that MQ basically spoils, but it wasn't MQ that spoiled it, only time. MQ is great too ;)

and dieing from dvinn that 10 thousandth time, only to find that rememming your spells took 5 mins per spell, and a rez? nope
EQ my be more linear now, but its alot more "fun" to play if you dont live in the past, or let the various guild drama's get to you.

Heh - you will be back... I have "quit" about 5 times now. I always end up finding a reason to go back... Or I will creep on to a few boards and want to "try" something.

Good luck anyways, maybe I am just a ECrack addict for life :( .

Making a guild brings friends back to everquest... Worked to bring my bro back. Note that he's not even in the guild after a month anymore lol...
