/Face something quietly...

Post by Jerle69 » Sun May 16, 2004 3:09 pm

Hello,

I've been using /face alot in some of my recent macros (who doesn't eh?) and I noticed two things that could enhance the command somewhat:

1) A quiet switch? Often performing several /face commands will create quite a bit of spam in the MQ2Chat window. Perhaps we could have a quiet switch to optionally "just do it" without saying: Facing "Whoever"... in green.

i.e.
/face fast nolook Character
...would face the character and print Facing "Character" in the MQ2Chat window.
/face fast nolook quiet Character
...would do the same thing but not echo the Facing "Character" statement.

2) Face fast is wonderful (maybe too wonderful) and just "Face" can seem almost excruciatingly slow in it's turn rate. Is it possible to have a tunable turn speed (face speed=X) or perhaps three different selectable ones? Maybe "face slow" and "face fast" and "face immediately". Actually making "face fast" become "face immediately" would break a bazillion macros, so maybe that's not a great idea. But at least you get the gist of what I mean.

Thanks devs yet again for such a wonderful piece of work :)

/target Name
/face fast

note: dont include their name in the /face. It won't echo that way.

Thanks, I did discover this and used that as a work-around for my macros; however, what I wanted targeted and what I wanted to face wasn't the same thing (or at least the "old" target was still valuable, so I had to also add some target place-holders just so I could gag the face command, do the silent face, and then reacquire the old target.

It'd have been easier with a "quiet" switch.

amazingly, there IS a "quiet" switch!

a) /squelch <command> .. e.g. /squelch /face fast nolook Character
b) /filter mq2 off, /filter mq2 on

Well damn... How bout making the manual smart enough to bite me when I don't read it eh? Wassap can you do that? ;)

I think I'll go review every command in there that I haven't used yet. Thanks for pointing that out Lax, and sorry to waste your time.

I still may have a valid request for part 2) in my original post. /face turning speed. I'm afraid now that I may go look in the manual and find a /expedite command or something making the second request equally foolish.

You should check out:

http://macroquest2.com/phpBB2/viewtopic ... light=turn

It will turn your host as fast as you would normally turn using the arrow keys (since it uses the arrow keys) and it looks like normal turning (since it uses the arrow keys). Anyway, I use it for all my turning needs. :)
