PowerTradeskills -- NEED Recipe Sets!

Post by Onezero » Thu Jan 29, 2004 6:22 pm

Hello everyone. After making HerosBrew.mac and seeing how many people have liked it and requested other types of macros, I'm going to start working on a PowerTradeskills line of macros, that will be similar to PowerArrows.mac and HerosBrew.mac.

To complete these macros I am asking for you all to assist me in gathering a set of price- and time- efficient recipes for each type of tradeskill. Just like making Minotaur Heros Brew is a quick way to reach 248 Brewing, and crafting the sets of arrows used in PowerArrows.mac brings you to 202 Fletching in no time.

You can post your sets in a reply to this thread, but I ask that you do your best to find recipes whose components can be found in a single zone, or at the most, three separate zones. Price is not a huge factor because some tradeskills are naturally expensive.

So get searching and help the MQ community! Thanks!

If you hit EQGUI.Com and look at the Story Content Section you'll find a post called "Lore Library" or something...

The Trades Guide in that has "Down and Dirty" for almost all the popular trades. Basically, those are the merchant driven, cheap ways to become well in that trade. I did my baking from Fish Rolls straight to Patty Melts.. with nothing in between, and I am now a master baker rather cheaply.

If you have problems finding it, I'll see what I can put together for you.

Aye, the down and dirty sets are good :-)

Another thing to note, www.eqtraders.com also has a quicktrivial list, for example, http://www.eqtraders.com/recipes/recipe ... 0020900000, for all of teh tradeskills.

I'm sure it's not exactly what you are asking for, but it's certainly a start :)

Aye, trivial list helps but I also need prices of the items and I'm pretty sure EQTraders' prices are not accurate at all. I'm still checking out the down and dirty list.

Their prices are accurate as of the release of LDoN, with 135 charisma and indiff faction, as tested by myself in Thurgadin, making hero brews :)

I thought their LDoN db got fried.. but ah well.

The Down and Dirty's should give you a good idea of where to start with the simplest, vendor-driven combines to get to the highest you can. Not sure on the prices though, but I'd assume they're also the cheapest ones.. It's a little old, but shouldn't be too different now.

I hacked up your script some to make it work for me for pottery from 0-148 and 149 - 248, I'm pretty new to macroing so of course it doesnt include auto-buy or anything i just fill up my packs with stuff and let it run come back later when its finished If you like i can post it here also I will be using the same hacked up version of the script for all the other tradeskills if you want I can post those as well so you can improve on them if you like. I'm a pretty versed in tradeskilling I am 250 in all skills on my Ranger (before i discovered macro quest /cry) currently working on 250 in all on my warrior, why you might ask?! Doing aid grimel for the warrior its an earring quest that requires 250 combines for all skills and you must be 220 in the appropriate skill to even get the npc to talk to you about that skill. I've rambled on long enough just tell me if you want me to post the stuff i've been working on its not pretty but it gets the job done.

Most of their non-recipe stuff appearently didn't get touched. Have site open on PC#2, notepad on PC#3, and EQ running on PC#1, and the prices are still accurate.

Go figure :)

Huh. That's weird. But hey, whatever works.

And I feel like I did a good thing, contributing to tradeskillers everywhere(SINCE I AM ONE!) ... god I hate carpel tunnel.

May I suggest a format here?

For PowerSkill.mac, it should be run with one parameter, the name of the skill: /macro powerskill brewing, etc.

Use an INI file for the recipes.

Don't worry about zone checks in the macro, it is up to the user to check the ini file to make sure he is starting in the right zone, in front of the right merchant.

So, you check the files, make sure you are in SH in front of the gnome in the tent, you type /macro powerskill brewing. The macro would then perform like HeroBrew.mac.

For fletching just use PowerArrows. It's a special case, since you don't have to move at all, just sit in front of an arrow merchant. Or turn powerarrows into an inc file and have PowerSkill call it.

There should be a skill level check. The macro should not take you above 200 in any skill without being specifically told to do so. A parameter that accepts either "max" or a target skill level would be good.

Also, don't use 0|1 as your toggles. It gets confusing! :) If you want to destroy everything produced you should specify "destroy"... so brewing would be "/macro powerskill brewing destroy", etc.

Add all that together and what you get is a macro that is called something like this:

Code: Select all

/macro powerskill brewing 200 destroy
That macro call would essentially run HeroBrew.mac till the user skill level reached 200, destroying all returns from the combine.
