You don't need a single tradeskill to play the game, and play it well -- comparing time spent on tradeskills to that spent on quests is rather silly.

Not any more. More and more of the really nice items require trade skills.
It looks like Verant is actually trying to make the trade skills an important part of the game instead of just an extra for those (like me.)who don't want to just find mobs and hit the attack button.

I got a job, i used to walk to.
When i made enough money, i bought a car.
Now i drive to work and make money faster.
Efficiency in my use of time has bounded exponentially.

Then i peered out the window of my little car that helps me be so much better at what i do... Know what i seen?

I seen everybody doing it too.
Wow.

Moral is, when you have a means of making life a bit better, it's going to get popular, it's going to be used by masses.

So when i seen millions of all these people driving cars to work and thus making their lives better as well.. i never once heard the car manufacturers say anything like Driving Skill CAN make you money, therefore do not use your car more then 5 days a week, or for anything trivial.

In essence, this is what your saying about MacroQuest, and being pushed to the limits of imagination and ability.
Why you would censor out the abilities of the MacroQuest for some sort of control over who gets to use it and who doesn't based on your own fear, or sense of need to control people is beyond my comprehension.
Information is power, Let the masses enjoy the efforts of the other masses... either that, or we are all going to be walking to work, cause the administration of MQ doesn't appreciate the efforts of the users to be bragged about.

Just the other side of the arguement there.

peace.

A Sage in Evermeet

I can understand his point...

I think his main reason is Verant. I mean, if mass people use this thing to do all of that, then guess what? Verant WILL completely nerf it. And who wants to spend hours upon hours just continuously updating a proggie to get around anti-stuff aimed at that proggie (anyone heard of Counterstrike and OGC?). Just MHO. But I must say that these macros would be spiffy, I coudl really use one, just spent 2 days tring to up my Bsmithing skill and have barely gotten past 100. *SIGH*

Java: Would you try to control who knew that if you drive a car to work you make alot more money, if you knew that when there is 5000 people in the country driving all cars in existance will explode and never be rebuilt?

I see the point made in the prior posts.
My point of view was coming from another angle, i agree with keeping the usage down to help slow or even prevent MQ from ever working in EQ...
But, i don't agree that one person feels the need to hide a persons post based on a single or even small group of peoples opinion about Where it could lead to.

Sort of like Freedom of the Press. I don't appreciate being told to shut up, when i have a right to speak.... but a basic right, doesn't mean i must be listened to.

Another way to put my meaning....
There is info here to gain from... just don't use it.

Like Game Trainers, they work, but don't use them.
Like Virii, they infect and often destroy, the info to make them is out there, just don't pass them on, don't use them.

It's about Having the knowledge .. but being mature enough to refrain from using it.

I didn't like the idea that the Posts, be what ever they were, should be removed because Big lil brother, wants to protect you from yourself.

Sure we like to make life in this game a bit easier, thats what MQ is for, If a person discovers a way to make some game money using it, they can post it here (or used to), and the rest of us would learn from their post.
But whether i choose to risk being banned by using it or not is my option, not the job of the Admin here to decide that for me.

Sorry i tend to repeat myself in different ways.. habit of being a parent, you tell a kid something in different ways till you see that they really understand you.

Peace.

Java: You made the observation that restating yourself to make sure people understand your point was a result of being a parent. As a parent, I'm sure you've encountered times when, no matter how much you explain how wrong something is to a child, they continue to do things that are wrong. At these times, it is your responsibility as a good parent to prevent the child from doing those things that are wrong since they are unable to stop themselves.

Look at it from that perspective...the boards are moderated because, in general, most people are too stupid to know what's best for them.

:)
Not sure if I agree with myself, but the logic seemed solid....

Salutations,
yea... i can't find a flaw in the logic either except... sometimes people are just darn stubborn. These are the times when one must start doing other things to keep them from doing so. Though they might adhere to the rule you just made, or pointed out once, they will begin to find ways around it (i know as a child) until you have to yell at them again for the same thing executed in a totally different way. This is the point where you need to begin attempting other means to get them away from doingi what they are doing. Point out the risks, tell them no computer for the next 3 days (gasp! no! aaaieee!), get them to do the right thing by plasying with there mind, using the wrong kind of their.... I don't kn ow how much of a logic hole that is, might not even be true for all things... i know its true here.... ZzZzZzZzZzZzZzZzZz
