Summary of MQ2 moving forward?

Post by LamahHerder » Sun Dec 24, 2017 1:44 pm

Considering coming back (have been learning python and starting to learn c++ and have an itch!)
I recall reading some things about the BS that some asshat pulled on Agnarr a few months ago, completely against the wishes of the devs and majority of community (myself included).

Decided to wait a while and check back in and see what was going on, but I have lost access to VIP forums and cant figure out whats going on.

There seems to be no 'General' forum I can post to so I am posting here.

100% agree with eqmule and other devs with their decision to find a better+safer way to ensure mq2 community persists

I did find this post about yearly donations which I totally agree with so I sent a small 10$ one and looking at paypal have contributed about 150$ last 2 years (which is nothing compared to the effort you guys put in)

However I am confused on current state/method to use MQ2 moving forward....

I see something about a build server... I recall reading somewhere about not being able to compile from source any longer but I cant find that post
  • How do I get access to mq2 'core' as well as some good ol faithfuls like MQ2MoveUtils, MQ2Melee, MQ2Cast etc... so I can play with my own macros?
  • Can I compile my own plugins moving forward?
  • If we no longer have access to source is there a way to still build our own plugins that will work on live/test?
  • Are all TLP gone now? Ragefire/Lockjaw?

Lamah - There was some cleanup of VIP accounts. Several older/inactive members were removed by the script. The link you posted includes that information.

You should be able to download the source code to the TEST server and develop locally using visual studio 2015. You can develop/debug your plugins there. ( You have to go into one of the header files and tell it to build TEST ) You can still do this for free.

To compile for LIVE you have to sign up for "builder" access. Cost is $50/year. The "builder" web page which lets you upload your plugins to a "build" server which will compile for LIVE or TEST and return a zip file with the core + your personal plugins. It is easy to use. You can get your updated live zip within minutes of eqMule's updates. You pretty much have to compile locally and test your plugins on the test server. The builder takes 2-10 minutes so you don't want to try using it fix your compile/logic errors. There are several 'must have' plugins that eqMule is now supporting for the base compile, move utils, melee, etc. Assuming you have builder access you can click the file names to view the source.

No idea about the TLP.

I gave you builder access lama. Just go to macroquest2.com/builder

Mq2 works fine on tlp, just not the truebox tlp servers.
My status o/

@dewey yea.... been around too long, actually just noticed my account on forums is older than eqmules lol
Guess its time to jump to TEST, I hear there is heat from social justice warriors on FV and other servers lately =(

@eqmule, thank you for all your work and dealing with all the BS, very much appreciated.

Glad to see some more dev's contributing in updates, thats awesome!
