Detours?

Post by Pragma » Thu Jun 12, 2003 8:13 pm

has anything changed with the detour code server or client side since the last patch? I used to expand the detours variable to hold a few of my own offsets, such as no weather, but as of the last patch none of my detours seem to work. The offsets are fine I checked them, but I crash after 2-4 min. Macroquest itself though works fine...

something is seriously wrong here. I just tested with an older version of my detour expander that worked consistantly for weeks and I crashed almost instantly. I am not sure why macroquest is even working.

Certainly, the eq client changed -- that change did not affect our detours.

What are you detouring?

I am detouring some additional offsets to improve the playability of the game, specifically no weather (rain makes me lag). I was always able to do this by adding the no weather offset to the detour list, but now even after it is added, I crash due to memory check.

Are you sure it is a memcheck crash?

If you attach windbg to eqgame.exe and then press F5 to continue, it will drop into the debugger if it is not a memcheck boot.

Ill try that. But i think its a memcheck, as I get bumped out to server selection. usually on hardcore crashes I go to desktop.

Does this happen with a non hacked version of MQ? If not I think it is pretty clear where the problem is.

what he is doing is protecting hack offsets with the memchecker, this has nothing to do with using detours at all.

Isn't that no weather thing a hack, though?
