Not all the code of course, just future addons and fixes. I hate to see people work hard on this project only to have others turn around and use the project as a platform for releasing offset hacks. Not that I have anything against offset hacking, it's just that it will bring the wrath of sony against MQ.
So future addons could be implemented in closed source DLLs with some interface to EQLIB. DLLs could be PGP signed by developers and copyrighted.
Probably not a good idea, but just a thought.
EDIT: Fixed typos

Yeah, we could do that, except it would violate the spirit of the whole project and Plazmic's intent that this be open source. We'd get a bunch of people working on their own little dll's to sell for some paltry few dollars that wouldn't cover a good night out drinking, and the core of the system would die.
Sooner or later you wouldn't have any bug fixes or struct changes, or you'd have to pay for them. Little groups would form, hording this piece of code, or that subroutine, everyone jockeying for advantage... would start to look like F-H around here.
I like it all out in the open. I get to pick through the code, learn a thing or two about C++, and make some small contribution from time to time. Closing it up just turns it into more of the "elite vs. the newb" syndrome that makes me hate "uber guilds".

Well it seems you cant be arsed to write your own documents sprite, or indeed your own detours library, or your own support website, or even to remove evidence proving you were screwing over a GPL'd source.
sprite.. more like shite.

Hey, if we're so stupid why do you point to "us stupid people" for support for "your" project.
YOUR stupidity continues to amaze me.

I have my own support forums, but a lot of answers are posted here so why not have them check here first?

Because we aren't on your payroll?
Why should we provide free support for something you make money out of.
By detours library I meant eqlib itself, i.e. based on detours.. If I know what I'm about, ya I could write my own version of detours putting dummy code to replace functions is hardly rocket science.

Despite what sprite says he is in violation of the GPL. And quite frankly I doubt he has the skills to do what Plazmic has done. I mean its not like you don't have a good example to work from. Sprite you couldn't have done this yourself. You are a coding pansy in comparison.

I am SO lost. This project started as open source. Then it went "gold" and was no longer free. I sent cash, and I did not get SHIT. Frankly I am thinking of reversing charges on my card for this. You cannot charge for a product that is:
1. Not even compiled
2. Has ZERO support
3. IS open-source (is'nt that illegal??)
So much for macroquest. SIGH.... why do people have to mess with a great thing???

Mutter: We do NOT charge for MacroQuest or support. Sprite is selling a precompiled binary and some game hacks for $50. Don't whine to us if he ripped you off. Call your credit card company.
MQ HERE is an open source project. You are free to download the source code and compile it yourself. AT NO TIME HAS MACROQUEST MOVED FROM OPEN SOURCE TO A PROGRAM YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR. We just don't provide precompiled binaries anymore.
Now, if you wanna download and compile your own MQ, and you need support, feel free to ask. If you paid for anything relating to this project then you need to take it up with the people you paid.

Mutter,
If you feel that you have been wronged and still want to use MQ.
1. Call your credit card company get your money back.
2. Go get a compiler (I use VC6).
3. Take that money you got back and donate it to the TRUE DEV team!
I was totally clueless as to how to compile anything let alone a great program like this. The ppl here are very kind and helped me along great.
If you choose to do this do your self a favor and read the boards. Most questions are answered for you already. Just my 2c... OO yay donate to Mckorr's Horse Fund. 100 % of your donations will be used to acquire a new horse 0 % will be taken by administrative costs.
