? how do i run oldui ?

Post by NiceGuy4 » Tue Feb 18, 2003 1:27 am

I have windows ME and can't seem to get into the oldui. When i open ms-dos\command prompt and type in.... (im in my eq directory)

ntsd -G -c "eb 00562565 0;g" d:\everquest\eqgame.exe patchme {enter}
Bad command or file name

i know the file name isn't bad. checked it like a 1000 times. i even tryed creating a short cut and adding that command to the target and i get.

"The name 'ntsd' specified in the Target box is not valid. Make sure the path and filename are correct."

grrrr.......

Can i even run oldui in windows ME? Is there any debugging software or drivers that i need to download from microsoft to make ntsd work? Is ntsd and debug the same thing? Is it possible to edit the eqgame.exe in a hex editor so it would automaticly run oldui. if so could someone edit it and make that file available. :( :(

You can't.

You can't run it right now.

Offset changed several patches ago, and no one knows the new one, and we *think* verant made it so that it no workie with debug.

So, in answer to your question, NO, you cannot run oldUI in ME. Or in 2k. Or in 9x. Or in XP. Or in NT. Etcetera ad infinitum. Hehe, that'd be a great guild name.

This question has been answered...

this question has been answered tons of times.

Macroquest latches on to the client (eqgame.exe) and TELLS the program to send a click at a specific spot. This is broken because of the interesting overlays of the graphics in the new UI.

Xylobot is more of a traditional macro program, in that when you record a mouse macro or write one yourself, it's actually sending the mouse cursor to that spot on the screen (There is no /click left auto in Xylo, you need to know the EXACT x,y coordinates of that you want to click, or record a mouse macro). Xylo doesn't attach to the client, it sits on top if it, and more accurately it controls the mouse at the system level, so that EQ just thinks you're moving your mouse that way.

Get it? Hope so!

So which is the more powerful program? Xylobot or MacroQuest. Simple question wanting a simple answer.

Try both applcations and determine for yourself the differences and/or if you find one more powerful than the other.

Generally speaking, MQ is more powerful; however, it's a different application entirely. Comparing them is more difficult than you think.

They may appear to do similar things sometimes, but the way it is done is completely different.

Thats kinda what i'm debating. Should i spend just $20 to use a program that works and has 90% of the options that i need or should i wait possible 1-6months for a free and also almost equaly powerful program, MQ. Voice ur opinions.

I have been playing with both and although I am still a newbie it seems MQ is a much better program. Although Xylobot does work with the click, the scripting part seems alot more difficult the MQ. I could see Xylobot being usueful for tradeskills but in hunting scripts and whatnot, MQ all the way. Thats from a newb prospective though

Xylobot (for life) is easily worth $20. Hell, I've eaten meals that cost twice that.

That is an expensive Big Mac...

Just Kidding

MQ is better...even broken, it still out-performs.../click will return ... someday.......

MQ is more "powerful". Also a lot harder for a layman to understand. It depends on how much time you want to put into learning it, and what you want to be able to do. Also with MQ, there will downtime anytime there's a change in the EQ exes

the current oldui offset is:
ntsd -G -c "eb 005645A1 0;g" d:\everquest\eqgame.exe patchme {enter}

however it seems to crash eq now when you try to use it.

further update, I was able to get the offset to load without crashing but it apparently no longer does anything, makes your screen go black when entering the world for about 2 min, then newui comes up.
