MQ, NewUI, /click, Whiners, Rude People, etc...

Post by OldNecro » Fri Feb 07, 2003 6:05 pm

I think part of the problem is the fact that everyone *assumes* Plaz is working on it and will have it finished in a reasonable amount of time, so those who are also capable of doing it, and doing it faster, won't do it because they feel that it would be a waste of time to duplicate his work, which truly is a totally valid point. I think at this point my only gripe is the fact that we haven't heard a single word on the progress from anyone for weeks and weeks (barring the multiple empty promises, that is...)

I would appreciate at least the courtesy of an update so those who can help will at least know where to start so they don't waste time reproducing that which has already been done.

While I totally agree not Plaz nor anyone else owes a damn thing to anyone, and you'll never hear me slam any of the devs for simply taking their time, I would consider it within the realm of common human decency to realize how many people depend on his knowledge as well as the knowledge of others to make this thing work.

The post about Plaz being gone for over two weeks was really disheartening, especially with that post about a Pre-Super Bowl release of the new version...

I think what the community really wants to know is; what's next? This is a really good reason for me to learn advanced c++ and whatnot in my opinion, but it would be the only reason and I would like to know if I am wasting my time, or if Plaz and the other devs are truly working toward solving the problem. I only know basic console programming in C right now, but given how important this project is to the community, I'm definitely willing to learn how to make it better and fix what has been broken for months and months...

BUT... At this point all I politely ask for is an update on the progress, so that those of us who can help won't duplicate work, and those of us who are foaming at the mouth for /click have something to entice us to live though another day...

Thanks. :D

well i am not exactly 100pct sure about this but i would think with all the recent patching to the "eqgame.exe" it would make fixing the "/click" kinda useless.
I mean even if he did fix it then they patch after its fixed.... it would be broke again, right???

The simple answer is "No". Certainly, something could happen in the future that might break it again. However, MQ doesn't typically break because of patches unless they're doing something MAJOR (which, adding the new UI a few months ago falls into that category.)

Generally speaking, if the /click problem could be fixed (I have only recently began to look at the code), it would probably remain fixed through most patches.

/click is a low priority IMO. I use MQ everyday and never need a click. My fear is that with the changes online the test server right now we will have a broken MQ with no one whom can fix it.

/click, et al...

I disagree that it is a low priority. If we get it fixed for a release of the new UI, then if the game gets patched, there are enough of us around that can do the scan for the new offsets that it could be fixed quickly.

If that means that we need a new thread for those of us who would be willing to work on the offsets then let me know.

NEWTHREAD for Offset building/ fixing, also maybe a collection of old exe files so that those of us unfortunate not to have save them all could also help

I think you're confused. It's not that MQ broke /click ...EQ broke /click on MQ and it's not been fixed yet.

Having an old exe wouldn't help you.

is /finditem actually a /click type command, or does /finditem still work in mq in newui?

Hey Imperfect, Do you know if he can release what he WAS working on even if it wasnt completed? I think he was on the verge of a discovery. However, if he cannot, at least we have an official word.

Also, I would like to thank Plaz for all the hard work he has done on this project. Good luck to You, Plaz, on whatever path your life takes. :P

basically, yeah that's exactly what happened. Plaz could at least give the people who donated what they paid for.
