clueless

Post by newb » Mon Feb 03, 2003 5:27 pm

I have installed the current (20030111) version, I have dropped .dist from the .ini filename, I have replaced eqgame.ini in its entirety with the contents of the post linked in the quicklinks bar. I have even changed ClientOverride to 1.

I have ActivePerl installed.

I am unable to get any verification in EQ that Macroquest is running. I have the icon on my systray. In a dos window, "netstan -an" does not show an open port for the telnet port I enabled in MacroQuest.ini.

Within EQ, "/location" is the standard /loc output. "/whotarget" is standard (and with an npc targetted, complains that there is no such target). I have enabled "DebugSpewToFile=1" but cannot locate any file being written to. All filterXXX= values are 0.

I am using win98, so the new ui. The forum messages I've found are unclear, but my impression is macros might not work but the modified commands will.

Can anyone suggest why things are not working for me? Another noob poster eventually got a load and a message complaining about the client version (and thus I disabled that check), but I cannot even get that far and a search on the boards leaves me emptyhanded.

Thanks for any suggestions

I'm not at my home computer, so I can't guarantee any help, but I'll try since you actually put some effort into it.

First, forget about telnet until you get the rest of it running.

Make sure that the offsets you put into eqgame.ini are the ones found in the macroquest:general forum under 1/15/03 offsets. Sometimes the quicklink isn't the most recent one, I'm not sure about right now. Don't set client override to 1. This way you KNOW if this is the problem...

Check your actual eqgame.exe by right clicking it (this is the eqgame.exe in your EQ directory) and clicking properties. The date created/modified is the date and time you need in your eqgame.ini file in the MQ directory. Make sure that they're the same. Sometimes time zone differences cause problems.

If you still have problems, take the dll from the noperl folder and stick it into the main directory. I run XP so I'm shaky on this part, but I think that's where it goes. This will make it so you no havey perl.

Try those things. I'm taking it for granted that you did indeed drop the .dist from the ini and that you did post the offsets into EQGAME.INI and NOT into MacroQuest.ini...., and that you pasted them into the eqgame.ini that lives in the macroquest directory, not the one that lives in the EQ directory.

If you get into EQ w/ no client error, type "/echo I'm a poop" into the chat window. If you get nothing, type "/filter macros all" and try again. If you still get nothing, type "/filter macros none" and try again. After either of these commands, you should get something like "MacroQuest: now filtering ALL macro..." blah blah blah. I believe that /filter macros all makes it NOT filter anything, think "show me ALL the macros" and /filter macros none hides all the stuff.

After you get it up and running, then bother with perl and telnet...

Thank you very much for the response.

I disabled telnet, enabled client version checking, and swapped in the noperl dll and am up running now. I am not too interested in macroing itself, so I think this means I'm right where I want to be.

Thanks again!
