N00B Help!

Post by pleasepressesc » Thu Jan 09, 2003 6:48 pm

Hey, I am that newbie.
I donnot know how to use MacroQuest. That is why I have come here. I am not a 13 year old playing on his dads computer, but a 16 year old trying to learn Linux and Html. The reason I have come here is because I found the program (mq) and do not know how to use it. I figure it is some type of language or something, but I sadly don't understand it.

Sorry if I sound like a newbie, but it is becuase I am. All know is I want to use the cheese.mac I found in the depot, but I don't know how. Do I simply type /macro cheese? Do I have to manually type in all of that? I am sorry, but I dont wanna be one of the many newbs who does actually types in "/petition I am using a Macro, please ban me" in the endless attempt to play Eq while making money.

Short and Sweetly, I simply request someone to help me use the cheese macro with out gettting me banned. Once again, sorry for Speaking in "Newbieish". :D

Im posting this assumming that you HAVE first read thru the help file which comes with the program?

Secondly, you see that when you first go into EQ you see a message stating that Macroquest is running.

To start a macro <call it > you use the "/macro <macroname>" command to run it. In your example of using cheese you were correct.
/macro cheese

AS of 9 Jan 2003 until new fixes are in place the cheese macro will not function properly.

thanks fer the help.

ps: just so you all know, last week I saw a lvl 11 wearing lvl 45+ armor. I was thinking he was just twinked. Then I heard him say "I am using a Macro! Please Ban Me!", and there was a GM in zone. I found this site through an OOC conversation, after the guy was surrounded by GM's and Guides. (I swear, Jan. 2 on the Veeshan Server, there was 3 Guides and A GM in Nexus cuz this guy was shoutin the stuff)

Wow 16!

Save your time and few remaining brain cells and go watch TV, a "reality" show seems right up your alley! You can veg out and not think, not read, not learn and not do any type of work...

How did you manage to complete the registration process? One thing a month bud, register then take a thinking break you need it.

Also, about the person spamming "Ban me I’m macroing" take a few lessons from him, he had the "secret" macro that made him tons of pp. If your nice I just might post the working code here, sure your guy gets kicked off for a bit but when your 1-week suspension is up bam millions of pp all for yourself.

Seriously, tho the cheese macro was nurfed and no longer produces a profitable product only the secret macro works now.

Notice he said "Linux" he must be uber smart throwing that word around. I smell a fallacy, he should have thrown in that he's Asian and Jewish too might have scored him a few more points.

Sad thing is I could have Trolled much worse... what does linux have to do with mq ? Your here cus of MQ! Are you serious whats that? Whats copy and paste ? Whats 999 char sig ? /end

(Today was a really really bad day, you have no idea...this one goes in "the" book)

Aww, that's just wrong.

I'ma stick up for this fella, cuz at least he's trying and he's being polite.

Let's make some assumptions about him:
1. He's probably never been part of a "board" before, so he doesn't know the etiquette. We all had to learn at some point, we weren't born as uber haxxors who knew to read all the threads in a forum before we asked a question.
2. He probably *is* trying to learn *nix, and I know from experience that if you're not in a group of friends with whom you can experiment, totally learning it from scratch is a pain in the arse.
3. He's probably trying too much too fast. Start w/ HTML bro, then move into C/C++ before you try to get too far into *nix. Personally, I prefer perl, but the two are largely interchangeable. /shrug.

Now I'll rant
I've said it before and someone tell me if I'm wrong in this assertation, but this is a *public* site where people can be expected to come in droves. As someone w/ computer knowledge, try to NOT be like Jimmy Fallon's character on SNL, and remember that at some point you were a pimple faced dweeb sitting in your room, learning command lines and reading the endless thousands of .ifo's and readme's all about how to be subversive and underground. I personally was a phreak because wiring has always made more sense to me than code. /grin.

I applaud this kid's aspiration, if not his implementation, and I wish that people didn't have to try to prove their 733tness by being jerks to those who are just trying to learn.

We can like or dislike the way the internet has changed since we were younger (does anyone else still use gopher?) but we can't blame those who are just now learning it, because at least they're trying. 2600's a largely forgotten enterprize, Phrack and the PLA are children of yesterday, but that doesn't mean we have to be asses to those who weren't around for the good ol' days, you know?

So, just in case you can't remember that you needed to look for a file called README when you first started infecting your computer w/ virii workshops and malicious java (remember malicious java?), don't forget that some people haven't learned that yet. If I were plaz, I'd be happy and sad simultaneously that many people were entering the non-commercialized realm of the internet via my program and so many people were warming to logic, even if their goals weren't totally altruistic.

Sure, soulzek over at FH is 16 and he's a badass, but I'll bet that even he had to start somewhere, so toss a kid a break. SHEESH.

 ok i'll try to be nice here but

What in the  does Linux or html have to do with MQ?

Nothing! He's using big words to try to impress us so we will give him information, he's lieing to you and you fell for it.

PS He mentioned Linux and HTML also b/c he knows he needs to do research before posting questions but he's really too lazy to read through any other posts and only wants his question answered then he's gone poof. So he's researching Linux assuming MQ is written in Linux like SEQ. Course I might be giving him too much credit in even knowing that...

Oh and RK

Ohh I got a title now 8)

Really bad day like I said, primed to go off. Now entering scape goat city... The Troll is comming run ! The Troll is comming!

Let me start... Late for school wife was kind enough to turn off alarm and go back to bed, dog ate a nice big hersheys symphony bar and left many many piles of wet brown fun throughout the house (smells great!), fell asleep at my desk after doing 5 hours of homework (yet still not close to done), MQ fucked with patch, garage door stuck and garage door opener ripped the teeth off its own gears, wife's car got hit in car accident and insurance company screwing us over now, wife got flat tire (used car with wheel lock yet no wheel lock from where we purchased it oh thats costly), so after 2 hours of sleep 1 of at my desk I woke up for a nice day of school from 8am-5pm then off to work 5pm-2am.

Thats all in 2 days.

But I'm just making excuses for what I did...Truth be told, he had it comming (in my eyes) and I expected to be flamed for my posts. Including this one

Noobies help )

Post by ZumZum » Sun Jan 12, 2003 3:43 am

I just find this site and discovered MQ did not get a lot out of it ,i am very new at programing :D
The experience of not knowing where to start is kind of frustating  it took me couple of days to figure it out and getting it to start, still did not get a macro to totaly work,i have been tring to use the caster macro and the hunter but could only make them work only in part
i am using three different accounts,on three different comps :D Enchanter,Cleric and Warrior ,hoping i can get the cleric to cast heals when the health on the group parteners dops below 50%,all it does sit ,the gets up and thats it ),on the caster macro .
The hunter macro works slightly beter my only problem is that it keeps trying to move behind the targetr ,it drops the target very often, sometimes it regains the target sometimes it does not.
Couple of sugestions i want to make:
-i could use more explanation within the macro where i have more options or where is necesary to input something to make it work, preferably a little bit more detailed example on how it would look like and with a reminder that it would be necesary to be deleted or not depending on the situation.
-Some of the documentation that comes with it could use more details i think who wrote it asumed some things would be known about programing in general and macroquest ,which i did not know and made it dificullt to follow.
Couple of problem i had tring to get macroquest to work were:
1-getting the Latest veresion of macroquest=do not remeber how i di it exactly but i download from a different page an older version of Macroquest
2-Unzip the IRC-latest.zip(it will unzip into a file called something like this "IRC-20021201"
3-getting the latest offsets-well i had the right offtsets but the wrong version of macroquest
4-rename the macroquest.ini.dist file to macroquest.ini(no offstes goes into this file
5-copy the offsets into the eqgame.ini (the file is in the Release folder into the folder IRC-20021201)=where do i find the latest offsets ? )i will be loking around ,after i finish this post
6-from here on you may have a problem with the version error,if you get the message you will have to look into Everquest directory to eqgame file right click on it and you will get the time and the date when it was changed and write that info into the eqgame.ini file into MACROQUEST
the third line requires=Thu Dec o5 03:07:xx 2002 or something like this
7-if you do not get any error messages next thing you have to look for is the Message "Macroquest is active" in Everquest chat window bellow the Welcome to Everquest Message,if you do not see the that message the macroquest is not running and you most likely have one of the problems described above and you have to leave Everquest and fix it.
8-if everything is ok ,the macroquest is active next thing is to type:
/filter amcros all
then
/listmacros ..it should show you all the .mac files in Macros folder within the Release folder
/macro hunter ..where the macro hunter should start :)

I think this is the longest post i ever wrote anywhere )

there will be a donation of at least $10.00 soon as i learn how to use the macros efficiently )
%T IS MEZZED !!YOU BREAK IT YOU SOLO IT )...after it kills me probably )

I couldn't resist... I had to add on here... SingleServing, you make some good--NO, great points. BUT... By title alone, one flame is enough from you to make the whole plane trip. And since we're on a non-stop flight from GFay to The Sleeper's Tomb... you're done. Anyhow, 16 isn't all that young to be codign up a storm... I mean, my... friend, there's a huge connection list that I'll spare you, is 15, and that kid is one smart smurt hut! He needs some direction and a couple swift kicks to the bum... but given the right drugs he could be schooling everyone.... this kid knows ASM far better than I do... some of his code is... well... smufed up! LOL Anyhow... I second the cut-the-kid-a-break motion

P.S. The actually connection list goes something like, best-friend's-girlfriend's-little-sister's-boyfriend.... hehe... say THAT 3 times fast =)
Hell hath no fury like a woman's scorn for EQ.
