I am also looking for suggestions on what 3 chars I should start. I asked last night on the message board and got some suggestions, but I figured I would also post in this thread to see if anyone else had any ideas. I am really up for any grouping. The only requirement that I have is that the 3 of them wouldn't need any interaction from other chars to make it to lvl 65. I am not saying be able to take down PoF mobs, just be able to group together in lets say PoN, Velks, etc...
Someone mentioned: SK, Rogue, Bard - which seems fun, but could they make it on there own? Also thinking: Druid, Enchanter, Necro. I am really up in the air as to what chars to start.
Thanks for the ideas

Without a cleric in the mix, you pretty much HAVE to have either a druid or a shammie for healing, or you'll be strongly limited in how tough of an opponent you can take on. Using a pali for tank would mitigate this to a limited extent.
My choices would be:
Shammie - heals/slow/buff
Pali - tank/stun/buffs/heals/rezzes
Druid - DS/snare/heals/buffs/evac/transport
All three are healers, so between them they should be able to keep the tank alive, also between the three, they have just about every worthwhile buff in the game (notable exception of enchanter buffs). In tough fights, druid/shammie can drop some heavy duty DoTs on the victim once pally has firm grip on aggro, just to speed things along. DPS is on the low side, but downtime should be minimal.

My 3 box would be pal, enc, and dru
Paladin can tank, backup heal, buff a little, and rez
dru can heal, transport, buff
enc can buff, slow, and do uber DPS with charm.
This trio can actually go places in tough GoD zones if played well, and enc doesn't mind charming. Dru has a nice long lasting snare to help enc with that also. Have seen god trials 5,6 farmed very nicely with this combo if enc is good.
If adding a fourth toon, a necro could add DPS, FD pulling, and FD then emergency rez if things go south.

After looking around for a while I think I am going to try...
Beastlord - Rogue - Cleric
that sounds like a fun combo, I have heals, slows, buffs, DPS, a pet to play with, rezzes, etc.
I guess we will see.

I tend to hang with a Nec and Bst a lot of the time and add a 2nd mage in the mix at times. I don't box much unless I bring the wife's dru along for pet buffs, regen and transport/evac but have been very successful with an all pet group. Both the nec and bst can heal, nec FD/Rez in worst cases, mage giving out great dps and summoning a bunch of crap from pet toys to food/water to mod rods, bst crack and paragon are awesome as well as the other bst buffs and if the bst pulls 2 or more the pets can hold one or two down while the bst tanks on the other. We've done velks, kael, GoD zones, PoI, PoN, Nadox, etc. No BIG zones but steady exp from about our mid 40s up to 65. Might want to look into boxing 3 pet classes.

My current 3box setup is a cleric, necro, shm.
The shm slows, a bit of pet help, uses Q on the group and some backup stuff like a dot/cripple etc
Cleric CHeals necro pet, which is actually quite a bit of a hp buffed with virtue and fo7. Obviously I understand this is not as good as a tank with decent gear etc but you'd be surprised at what he can tank. Cleric depending on the mob also uses stuns constantly and other utility spells.
Necro = crowd control, basiclly 90% of the damage outside of pets, mind wrack if needed, various other necro tools(safety rez when cleric dies, pulling after death or summonning, group lifetap heal, sometimes charm)..
Just to give you an idea of what this is capable of...you can easily hit 65 with just this group. Group in PoN, BoT(Probably not kriegers unless you get more groupmates), other teir 1/2 PoP zones.
My necro pet has successfully tanked SoL in GE, arbiters(SP?) and advisors in ssrea for insignias, tawro/radir, spider matriarch in PoN etc.
Is it the perfect combo? Certainly not. But it does work and quite well for the most part. As you pass the teir 2 stage which is what I did recently you will start to need a player tank to handle the upper stuff. But you asked for something that will get you to 65 and let you try some challenges, and this setup will do that. It can also be kinda fun playing casters as I don't enjoy melee myself so it was better for me.
In the end pick 3 classes you enjoy, one of which I recommend being and "easy" class to bot unless your gonna use genbot type macros. If your playing by hand a wizard/mage or something is good for at least one class so you dont need to pay them constant attention. Just send a pet, nuke on occassion etc.
You are going to want at least some form of good healing in order to make it anywhere decent. With a druid/shm you will notice a bit of a stuggle before the druid gets cheal in many situations it may slow you down, as people said the pally can help.
If you are into the standard tank type group I recommend a pally/sk/war depending on which you like best, a bst for tons of damage via melee and pet along with slow, and then a healer druid/cleric though I would pick cleric just because if you plan to play them alot you will die as we all do on occassion and the rez will become very friendly as opposed to asking people all the time(was a deciding factor on me).
My opinion :)

BST rogue cler isn't so hot i think, no haste for one, and unless hte bst is tanking the whole time rogue won't be able to BS. with thte pet zoning changes i'd go for 2 mages and a bst, or mage necro bst. for pet loving fun with tthe slow in there, even rez. BST crack and necro mana draining, can always pick up KEI or ditch the nec and add a chanter.
