mq window not showing up

Post by SomeoneElse » Fri Dec 26, 2003 1:37 am

With the last two versions of MQ i've had (one with my own offsets, and now with the latest zip), I compile and run MQ. It is running, as I can /target anyone, and run macros. However the standard MQ window isn't showing up? It's like it is off the screen or something.

I've tried unloading the window and just having MQ commands show in the normal chat window, but they don't appear there. It does the same thing regardless of the UI I use (even for default). I've tried changing the screen size, etc.. nothing is fixing it.

Any ideas? Thanks! :cry:

MQ2 window not showing up

Post by jimbo123 » Mon Feb 27, 2006 9:36 pm

I have the exact same problem. It started with the new compile (today). From clean cold boot of computer:
1) Start MQ2. MQ2 icon appears in tray.
2) Start EQ. MQ2 window appears at character select screen.
3) Select character....loading... no MQ2 'chat' window.
4) Camp character ....loading character select screen... no MQ2 window.
5) Select different character ...loading... no MQ2 window.
6) Test to see if MQ2 is running and aware -- target NPC, face away, do /face. MQ2 working fine.
7) Attempt to close MQ2 -- right-click MQ2 icon, select EXIT, icon disappears.
8) Test to see if MQ2 is running and aware -- target NPC, face away, do /face. MQ2 STILL working fine. WTF?!
9) Try /plugin mq2chat... no response that I can see (meaning no 'invalid command' response from EQ either)

So, I would attempt the above mentioned fix if I knew what was meant by 'all my character files', but I don't... and I suspect that may be like using a canon to kill a fly. Can someone point me in the right direction please?

Thanks,

jimbo

You want to do this:

1. /plugin mq2chat unload
2. /plugin mq2chatwnd
3. Verify mq2chatwnd is working by using /who

That should make your mq2chatwnd appear.

I too am having this issue and as well have tried all the above and still no window. I know there is a window I just can't see it because all the mq commands are working just no window.

10) Delete MQ2ChatWnd.ini or open it and set these:

Code: Select all

[yourserver.Yourcharacter]
ChatTop=10
ChatBottom=210
ChatLeft=10
ChatRight=410

I tried both the above recommended remedies to no avail. Still the same after clean restart of EQ (and perhaps MQ2, but never really know for sure if MQ2 ends when the icon goes away).

MQ2 works, but no window.

Shantel, can you test and confirm same result?

I would swear I compiled properly the first time. But I have been wrong before, so I recompiled MQ2main, then batch-compiled all the rest. Fired it up and the window loaded! sweet! Until a few seconds later when it crashed to desktop. I tried a few more times with the same result. I'll delete the whole ball of wax and start anew in the hopes I don't have to try again to obtain all the tools required to do the debugging stuff for CTD. I'll post back either way.

Thanks all for your help.

Posting back, as I said I would. Deleting the old directory entirely, re-downloading, and recompiling exactly according to directions did solve the problem (at least for my trial set of one startup). :oops:

I'd like to think that it is a result of the new version posted yesterday, but it is more likely to have been a chair-to-keyboard interface error in the first place.

Thanks to everyone who replied, and some thanks as well to those who did not. :wink:

Confused...

Post by sonofcycle » Thu Mar 30, 2006 1:15 pm

What I've gathered from everything I've read, the only way to use MacroQuest2 is to run some compile process on it first, and it won't run on your own computer specifically until this is done and MQ2Auth is thrown in the mix. I didn't do any of that and I'm able to use it just fine, downloaded from www.mmobugs.com - am I missing something here? Or is the compile part of the process only necessary if you're going to do some thing other than just use the features and plugins that come with it?

First, it was retarded to reply to a thread that has nothing to do with your confusion.

Second, im not surprised youre confused, since like a moron you paid for a version of MQ2 that has the auth part taken out and pre-compiled.
