I may be blind, but I see an awsome guide for setting up the macros themselves, ( http://macroquest2.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3969 ) ...

But, Are there any that nice for getting MQ2 itsself set up? I am not a complete newbie when it comes to comps or anything but I dont know alot at all when it comes to programming... Is there any planes for a simple to install ( like .exe ) MQ version comming out anytime soon?

Thanks =)

And sorry if I ended up asking a question thats PROBALY posted somewhere a million times =( Its late and I been up a while, hehe.

PS: Is " Visual Studio 6.0 " Something id have to buy? or is it Freeware somewhere? Thanks again.

yes there are nice step by step instructions.. am i going to point you to them? no..
why? because THEY ARE NOT HARD TO FLIPPIN FIND. PUT SOME EFFORT INTO THIS PROGRAM IF YOU WANT TO USE IT.. DON"T EXPECT IT ON A SILVER PLATTER.. (which is actually what the dev's are giving you..if you bother to read the flippin boards..)

As was said, please try to look around more.. I'm pointing these out in the hopes that no one else will ask this same question again.. at least for a week or so.

:arrow: http://macroquest2.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=4029

"Visual Studio 6 - Load the workspace. Set MQ2Main as active project. Hit Build MQ2Main.dll (F7). Now do Batch Build (under Build menu). Make sure everything in the batch build window that says "release" has a check by it. Click Build in the window. All should compile with no errors or warnings."

1. Double click MQ2Auth.exe
2. Double click macroquest2.dsw
3. Select Build -> Set Active Config and select MQ2main; hit ok
4. Select Build -> Build MQ2main.dll
5. Select Build -> Batch Build; push Build button.
6. Go into release folder and double click macroquest2.exe

It really doesn't get any easier then that.

Yes, you either need to buy VS6.0 or find someone to "borrow it". Whether online or irl.

agree

I agree with gnome. If you cant find the instructions on install either on the page or in the forums and/or cant follow them without specific or unique errors dont use the program.

------ Build started: Project: MQ2 MainPS, Configuration: Release Win32 ------
Checking for required files
Error: MIDL will not generate DLLDATA.C unless you have at least 1 interface in the main project.
Project : error PRJ0002 : Error result 1 returned from 'I:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe'.
Build log was saved at "file://i:\Documents and Settings\My Name Here\Desktop\Downloads\MQ2 Main\MQ2Main\MQ2 Main\MQ2 Main\ReleasePS\BuildLog.htm"
MQ2 MainPS - 1 error(s), 0 warning(s)
========== Build: 1 succeeded, 1 failed, 0 up-to-date, 0 skipped ==========

Tried following instructions above, I know nothing about any of this, stopped when I saw the error appear and then tried again fresh, same result. Any idea why this is failing to work?

I don't even know where this PS file comes from... The other MQ2 Main compiled fine, this one must be generated automatically. Any explanation would be appreciated, I hope to understand all of this at some point. Right now I'm just running blindly.

Hint: a thread 3 years old may not be up to date enough for your compiler.

Hint: The date on the file you clicked to download (it's also part of the name of the zip file) wasn't on or after the day of the patch.

... We're being nice about these kind of things now?

Can I just say... RTFM

That is all, thank you.

I already advised Shiz to RTFM via PM - and consult the HOW-TO's etc.

I was promptly sworn at for explaining what RTFM stands for. :shock:

While I try to keep the the shadows and interject only when I feel my post makes some kind of valid contribution I had to say something here.

Based on the fact that clearly my decline to teach him how to "load" or "compile" macros and to RTFM must have been misconstrued as some sort of request for abuse I think it highly suspect that he hasn't been picked apart bone by bone already.

Shiz - like I was trying to tell you, go spend some time reading before you start asking things that are going to get people busting out the Office Space screen captures and Captain Oblivious jpegs.

I was trying to help you, in my tough love sort of way. Now go start reading!
