This might pretty much get MQ2 canned.

We all recognize that output. :-\

Was in the EQ chat (The client chat) and a GM said this morning's patch is supposed to do away with macroing. Hopefully he didn't know what he was talking about, which is probably the case as most GMs are dolts. I'd watch out for some things that may get your account soul marked though, and possibly some spyware of some sort in the newest patch. If they did install spyware, it'd have to be in the EULA, which I haven't taken the time to reread yet.

All I know is that kid on Sullon Vek single handedly brought MQ into the limelight and therefore, he's a bastard. You thought Zerix releasing binaries was a problem? Look out. I'd wager 3/4 of the entirety of the EverQuest community has heard the word "MacroQuest" in the past two days.

I want SoE to scan for the macroquest ex running in the background, scan for anyone repeting the same thing, the exact same speed over and over. Set traps of ground spawns only visible to macro users. Add some code that messes up their macros and causes a ring or visible spell type effect to radiate out from their character using the macro. Enough of those people whoring the game, ban them all.
Look, the macroers even put a link to this topic on their messageboard.

Post subject: Figured MQ Devs would find this interesting ...

As im sure youve all prolly seen it but its a thread from SOEs boards ..
Beware people are heavily running their mouths and I do not wanna see a god thing screwed ..
Heres the complete thread ..

Also it looks like someone's using my handle over there on the boards. Guess I'm not the only Elric to exist. That's just sad.

Well, patch didn't change anything clientside...

Wonder what they put in place serverside...

My suggestion is to change the name of your MQ2 executable after you compile until this cools off a bit.

AFK macroing is so retarded /sigh. I've petitioned people for it before and I'll continue to do so. In my opinion, the only people who need to do it are most likely plat resellers and they all piss me off. With the money they make, and the amount of computers they most likely have at their disposal, I'm fairly certain they're directly responsible for destroying economies so blatantly that the ONLY option is to take action against MQ directly, ignoring some of the benefits of the program that aren't cheats at all but help people with their carpal tunnel, elbow pain, and other extended computer use related health issues.

If you'd just sit at your computer when you run macros and not be so freaking wreckless, I wouldn't have to worry about running even a barebones compile of MQ. Thanks for ensuring my wrists will hurt until this blows over, ass.

*sigh*

Looks like I won't be playing my favorite bard or working on tradeskills due to carpul tunnel syndrome.

I'd have to say that is probably the only thing I use MQ2 for. Bleh.

While cheating is cheating, we do need to police ourselves. If I can use the tools I have available to me to stop the abuse I'll do it too.

I treat my goat very well, if I see someone abusing a sheep I am gonna get that to stop.

So do we know yet if anything was done server side to hamper MQ or check for MQ? I saw Lax's announcement saying that there were no client side changes and MQ didn't need patching, but nothing about security.

I was just reading a post over at FH. Guy just said his friend was suspended when he activated a cheat in LDON.

Could be a trainer or MQ, dunno which but it sounded like he got nabbed pretty fast.

I'm going cold turkey for a bit until more info is available.
