Here is a mock-up of an app I'm considering writing. Would any of you guys actually use it?

That would be interesting to see, no idea as far as actual use

If you work from a 200MHz machine running Win95, but you can SSH to your home machine, you could open up 4 windows to 4 EQ machines at home and have your own group (again).

kinda neat, but how would you map the terrain?

That's the easy part - use the downloadable maps but make the grid 10x10 (or whatever works).
It's kind of an ambitious toy project, I know, but I love text mode.

I would trade an unbelieveable amount for a fully non-graphical version of EQ that I could run like 15 times per machine.

Tuna,
I started looking at doing this as an add for MQ, an enhancment on the telnet client, but I couldn't find a good guide to ansii that showed escape codes for things like text positioning. Do you have one?

I've been doing so much perl for the past few years I've almost forgotten my C roots. Might do it in near-ANSI C so it will run on as many OS' as possible.
ncurses is a must!
I guess there is enough interest here. I'll draw up the requirements and see how many hours approx it will take me to develop.

Giddeon, do a search for old world BBS info ... RBBS etc all used ANSI color codes and positioning. You may be able to find docs on cursor control that way.
