I did a search first! honest!

After a long day at work, the thought of clicking hundreds of times to make some Celestial Essence just doesn't sound appealing, so I thought I'd give things a whirl here and maybe save myself from carpel tunnel down the road... :)

Anyways, first question is, I know people keep sayin to compile in Visual Studio 6 or .NET but is it possible to compile with just Visual C++ 6? In my searching I found this thread http://macroquest2.com/phpBB2/viewtopic ... sc&start=0 which leads me to believe it's possible....

Anyways, trying to get it to build and after a half hour of dinking around to remember how to get the #include paths right (VC6 didn't set 'em up right during install for some reason, oh well) I finally stopped getting the stupid "can't find this header file" errors, which I'm embarassed to say is actually an accomplishment for me. However, now when I run a compile, I get this as an error...

Code: Select all

--------------------Configuration: eqlib - Win32 Release--------------------
Compiling...
Error spawning cl.exe

macroquest.exe - 1 error(s), 0 warning(s)
Love them descriptive error messages. Anyways, in the process of installing the VC6 help files, just thought maybe someone here could help me out as well. Thanks for any help in advance. :)

if you have installed vc6 correctly, it should have accociated your *.dsw automatically... this means that all you have to do is doubleclick the macroquest.dsw, and it will open in vc... then just go to menu->build and select build macroquest.exe and it will compile... it really is that easy... really. When done u have both the eqlib.dll and the macroquest.exe in the release folder.

I guess one of the half dozen times I installed and uninstalled it over the years screwed it up, did a complete reinstall and that got it working. Like you said, it's that simple! :)

Yeah or you could just Set Active Configuration to Macroquest and then you would see the "Build Macroquest.exe" which if you build it, will build both eqlib.dll and macroquest.exe

or just go to the project explorer and right click each project, you get a neat "build Macroquest.exe" option or "build eqlib.dll" depending on which project you right click... (VC6)
