Getting MainTank target

Sorry if this is super obvious and/or asked and answered a bunch of times, but I can't really figure this out.

I'm trying to make a macro for my necromancer which will, essentially, send my pet in to attack the Tank's target when my Pet isn't attacking anything and my Tank is.

The problem I'm having is I have no idea how to check what my tank is targeting. Is there an easy way to access this? I couldn't find it after a lot of clicking around on the Wiki and a lot of tests trying to return a name with /echo, all to no avail.

Someone else may know a better way, but the 3 that I know are.

Target the tank, and use ${Me.TargetOfTarget}

Or you an set them as your group Tank/Assist and then set one of your XTarget Slots to Group Tank/Assist's Target.

Or if there is just one mob on xtarget you can assume that is your tank's target.

What do you mean by that? I assumed the XTarget list was just the same as your "Extended Target" list in game; so 1 would be the first on the list, 2 would be the second, etc. I did try accessing the "TargetType" from that list and it just always ended up on "Auto Hate" or something like that, it never showed anything as "Main Tank's Target" or whatever the similar return type was listed in the wiki.

I've got something really awful that seems to be working for the moment, but I'd really prefer to be able to access the target of my MainTank in some way, to handle things like target swapping etc.

Right click on little "red !" in your XTarget window and switch it from auto to "Group Tank's Target" and that will update with your group's Tank target (assuming you've set them as that role within the group).

If you are grouped you can set roles and use ${Me.GroupAssistTarget} so something

If you are wanting the necro to work from outside the group, you are going to want to set up a variable that your main toon can send commands to change. For instance RD uses "MATarget". Thus:

The macro is set up so when the variable MATarget is 999999 it knows there is no target. So what is going on here is:

If MATarget is not 999999, and there really is a MATarget spawn in the zone with that ID number, and I am not already targeting that mob then:

target the mob with this ID if it is targetable
wait 1 second or until my target is the mob
