MQ2 wont load in EQ

With all the warnings about posting for help i'm rather frightened ....

I use to use MQ2 years ago with no problems.
I come back to the game, MQ2 not working

I have installed another copy of EQ (Underfoot).
Installed the appropriate basic version of MQ2 from mqemulator
Run EQBCS, and Macroquest2 (have tried just MQ2 without EQBCS)
Boot up EQ (via wineq2, also tried via the exe itself)
Get into EQ, and no MQ2 window, commands dont work etc.
at no point do i get any errors, all the software runs fine, just doenst actually work

ideas?

Post your macroquest.ini so we can see if you have the chat window plugin loaded

That format is wrong. Use the MacroQuest_default.ini (renamed to MacroQuest.ini) from the current zip.

I would suggest you start both eqgame and macroquest by right clicking them and select start as administrator and see if that helps

Are you playing on a server that allows mq2? If not maybe they have their own dll that prevents mq2 from injecting?

You can also set DebugSpewToFile to 1 in the ini and check the log how far in it gets.

Running as admin would be my guess as well since wineq2 forces you to for no reason.

I've tried running everything as admin, with the same result.

I'm guessing the only next step is to install a different version of EQ? and roll the dice on it working?

Installed SOF2, and got the corresponding MQ2 version for it, ran all as administrator, and its now working. maybe a dodgy eqgame.exe? who knows, very strange

Thanks for your feedback guys, no idea why it wasnt working, but it now is.

Thanks
