Getting click working in the 'new' oldui

Since there does not, at the present moment, seem to be a lot of movement on getting click to work in the newui, and since click was working fully in oldui until it was broken a few weeks ago, what sort of work needs to be done to fix click in the oldui? The click structure, is, as I understand it, a lot simpler using oldui, so it could serve as a stopgap until click under the newui is implemented. Or have fundamental changes to the executable made click in the oldui a thing of the past without major coding?
