EQBC

Post by Cactusdan » Fri May 07, 2010 1:28 pm

My EQBC keeps crashing.

MQ2EQBC: did not recieve expected ping from server, pining...

I try to disconnect, relaunch eqbc, connect and nothing. I have to completely reboot my system and start fresh, and still then there are times it does not work. I am running 6 Characters 4 on my main PC and 2 on my laptop. I run EQBC on my Main system.

Quad Core, 8Gigs of Ram, 8800gtx overclocked video.

I have read there is an issue with Netheals, Pet classes, but there is no consistent pattern to when it crashes. Other than buying a 3rd PC to run EQBC on what are my options. I uses MODBOT and love the functionality of the macro. I do not want to return to using multiple macro's.

Your help/input is appreciated.

Don't summon your pets.

Remove netheals, that plugin is not a requirement with the current version of modbot. Pets shouldn't be a problem. I have a box less powerful that yours and 3 sometimes 4 pet classes, out of my 6 man group and don't have eqbc troubles.

I do not run Netheals yet it continues to crash. I have tried everthing from slimming down the macro to bare bones and still crashes.

update your drivers, make sure you have the latest Directx. The video driver seems to be the main culprit to crashes also try a differant vid card if that doesnt solve the problem. If the problem still persists then you have a much deeper issue then i can help you with.

While I don't see how it could be an issue, but since caj mentions video card, try removing the overclock from your gpu.

Dan,

"My EQBC keeps crashing." Does this mean the EQBCS chat server:
A - crashes - ie box disappears. you get a pop up error message saying ....
B - stops responding - box is there but no chat messages in/out
C - other ...

Things to try. Use some other characters classes. Try just running on your main box. Just running on the laptop.

Have to find some way to systematically reproduce the error.

Do you have netbots loaded?
Do you have any other networking problems between your systems? You might try leaving ping running between them and see if you get any dropped packets etc.

I run EQBCS as a service on my media server (under Win7 x64) which I leave on at all times. We connect up to 6 clients to it for hours each day and I've never had it crash or hang. The EQBCS machine only gets restarted once every few months to install patches etc. It's been very stable for me.

We don't use netbots/netheals at all though.

I have server running on 2.6 ghz quad core with 8 gig ram running 9 eq clients . 3 eq clients on laptop and 2 eq clients on main live machine. Thats 14 characters all talking over eqbc.

I'm running vista on server, winxp on one, and win7 on the other. I use netbots to trade status. I do NOT run netheal.
Occasionally the server will crash with a segfault and I'll have to start the server, drop and reload netbots on all the toons. but thats once or twice a month.
