Really dorky idea - macro an entire guild

Post by mackster » Wed Dec 04, 2002 12:31 pm

Sometimes when I can't sleep I think about EQ, or rather I can't sleep when I'm thinking about EQ. :? Anyway, I had this idea that would be really fun, yet utterly sad and pathetic: macro an entire guild!

Every aspect of the guild, ran by you and only you. You make the calls, you set the raids, you go anywhere you want, whenever you want. No more dealing with morons who take 5 hours to get to a druid portal, no more idiots who get lost at every turn. No fighting over loot, no one leaving the guild because it's not good enough or whatnot. Just that cold, ruthless macro efficiency we all love.

I'm thinking buy 25 EQ accounts, 24 for the guild, and 1 for a permanently stationed bazaar mule. Now, you could save some money on computer hardware if you could 2 box each acct and still run seperate macros for each char, but if not you'd need 25+ computers, and make sure one runs SEQ. You'd also need a well-planned ergonomic setup for all this, so you aren't running around your computer room trying to take control of it when things go wrong (and they would).

But after you had all your hardware setup (just minimal installs, they would pretty much be EQ Workstations, LOL!), you write macros for every char. You could probably do it with just the code I've seen around here. That would probably make a good foundation, but you would probably need complex macros to run it all. Also, you'd need a few things to customize your forces. For example you could write a list of commonly said things, like woot, lol, ding, omg, wtf, etc, and make your characters say those things when appropriate.

Organize the characters into whatever groups you like, and have a buff routine that makes all your support classes constantly replenish the buffs on everyone. Personally, I'd put a porting class in every party, so I could just give a command in guildchat such as /gu all port to DL, and then the porters automatically take you there all at the same time.

On your main char you could fill pretty much every hotkey bank with commands you issue to your bots. You might even be able to have them pull for you, if you had a really good monk macro that could FD reliably.

You'd have to be really careful though. Use aliases whenever possible to cut down on MQ commands and such, and also make your guild /anon the entire time so you don't have people asking to get in or sending you random tells or whatever. Never get involved in arguements or conflicts with another guild, just mind your own business. Great care would need to be taken to ensure your macros don't malfunction, can be halted in an instant, and that your characters don't all run around in a blatantly mechanical fashion.

But, assuming you could do all that, the possibilities for your gaming experience would be drastically expanded. Just quietly rove around and enjoy your virtual army and kick ass.

Damn, if I ever found myself in possession of a large sum of money, I'm doing this! :D [/b]

Why not try it?

You could do that right now with the "free" account key from IGN.

Why not try it and let us know how it works?

Is IGN also handing out a free computer with each account ID? :)

Get a huge hard drive, lots of RAM, and use EQW for all of them!

=/

$12.50 * 25 = $312.50/mo.

Lessay $500 each computer... and you could easily run 4 accnts/comp if you're just using macros.

So, that gives us a one-time charge of $2500.

Plus desks, chair, etc... so let's say $3000.

And whe your DSL does that 30 sec - 2 min crash... Oh shit...

Wonder what a GM would do if their watching your spotless guild kill mobs with ease, precision, perfection, and expertiece... and then all 25 of you go LD at the SAME time.

Salutations,
thats why you plant virii on your friends comps that runs EQ/MQ when ever he idles and IMs you, setting off an alarm to wake you up so that _you_ can quickly get on and raid, then, he comes back and you go back to sleep. but because you're making lots of money a month, you just work at home and stay on call 25/8

it would be kinda funny to be sitting down somewhere and seeing this whole guild run by in formation, as if it were a cult.

better yet, have them lined up in some crazy formation... like when they run in a field, they spell out your name... or the Flying V from Mighty Ducks... hehehe
