Complete beginner here.
So flame on as you wish.
Can anyone explain how NPC's target you in game? And if there are ways to force them to drop target if you reach a certain HP level and therefore drop Agro.

Yes, there is such a thing as low-HP aggro, which causes you to be aggro if you're somewhere below 20-25% HPs. No, I don't think that's what the OP was asking for.
In fact it looks more like a request for something you'd find on the free hat boards, not here.

think that had little to do with your HP and everything to do with you sitting. Mob saw you sitting and made you a bigger target. If you had low HP, then your hate on that mob would then be MUCH higher and thus you get smacked. Try invis when medding.

Not that this has much to do with the first post, which sounded like it was asking for some way to have a mob NOT target you due to HP being high (never heard of this before), but yes mobs will low hp aggro. There is also sitting aggro, so if you are low on health and are sitting the mob is going to be on you faster then you can hit evac (if you happen to be a wiz like all good people should be). There is also aggro based on lvl, lower lvls get more aggro. i think (this one is a guess) that there is also class aggro, i know when my chanter or wiz meds them seem to get aggro from an inc. mob that has been hit by a puller. This happens even if others are closer or even sitting. But sorry for long post that has much to do about nothing, i agree with the above; med invis.

if you have low hp and mob has you in target:
let script click off hp buffs like crazy, and your % hp goes up, mob looses interest in you
code for this is in one of the cleric macros in macro depot

Ever play a pet class ? Its the same for npc's . Lets say x amount of mobs are on your pets hate list, your pet is tanking 1 mob and u killing the other when mob u are killing is around hp% to start fleeing pet agros it and starts killing same thing goes for Npc's Except they have the agro range. If your faction is high with a mob (not Scowling or glares) & and u havent attacked it you can be low on hit points or sitting however if the mob normally scowls at you if it catches u sitting and or with low hps you are on the top of its hate list .

Ok new question but on similar wavelength,
Can anyone shed some light on how the water surface of EQ stops spells from landing on a targeted mob underwater?
Yes you understand correctly I was wondering if there would be a way to stand on shore and cast onto a mob to avoid agro when I was levelling my alt, (too late now because all the fishes are green)
So more than that I am interested in how the water surface actually denotes how your toon behaves in EQ.
I imagine there must be a switch that tells your toon to swim when it reaches XYZ coordinates (water), Or say to your toon, If you get to this coordinate, slow speed by X (skill_swim), Change Visibility to Y (underwater vision)..Change body animation to (swim model Z)....Etc
So it must be something like the location of the surface of the water in regards to your own position, and then a string of commands to alter the behaviour of the model (toon) movement speed, visibliity, animation for swimming and breathing etc.
Ok thats roughly how I imagine it works, as I said im new to this so burn me down as is required but I am interested in environmental variables If thats a good name for them.
Any relivant info would be appreciated
Flame on as required

How does this relate to the automation of your character? Oh, it doesn't? Then why are you asking about it here?
Reading . . . it's not just for me.

Ahh ok, I didnt realise that would be hacking the client, as I said Im new to this.
I thought it might be something similar to the plugin for enduring breath or something.
No worries and apologies for touching on something taboo.

There's a plugin for enduring breath on these boards?
Where?
If not, why do you even talk about something that isn't here?
