Nerfed EQ Utilities

Some of the things which have been developed are so easily abused that they need to be carefully protected. Warping is a pristine example. It has good uses, but lameasses abuse power. A lameass could never be trusted with powertools, but a plastic playset might not be as risky.

Nerfed utilities.

eg., megawarp that only takes a player to a succor point and is further nerfed with a lengthy reuse timer.

A few nerfed, but useful utilities might help to motivate capitalist bums to donate into VIP.

I really honestly wish I could grasp the point of most of your posts...

thermal paste

The idea that I was trying to point out was that there's good utilities that are too powerful to be available at low (public) levels of access. However, they could be nerfed to prevent abuse, and then safely released at those lower levels.

The second idea was that something like that might be an appealing carrot for donation if it was restricted to VIP.

I don't know if devs or upper community members have considered making harmless versions of their 'powertools'.

As a post on the macro request board, I think what I'm saying can be summed up as a request for pr0gr4mmers to consider nerfing some of their utilities that are too powerful to be trusted in the hands of the public - so that they have their powerful version, and a nerfed version which might bring enjoyment (or relief) to the lowbies.

Well to make a POWERTOOL for the people would be totally against what this community is about. They dont want warping. And to make a tool that allows for warping would infact defeat that purpose.. So there is 2 points to this..

1) If people know what they are doing they will find a hack and make it work. So there is no need to point it out but keep it a deep dark secret to stop the normal populace from being idiots and drawing huge attention to some idiot warp kiting in HOH or something stupid like that.

2) If they where to release some watered down version of it. It would need to be precompiled. Or any idiot could just change the reuse timer on it and defeat the purpose. And for them to make a pre-compiled version would defeat the purpose of what they do anyway. So damned if they do on this and damned if they dont..

So in summary, keep the dark secrets just that. And use it for what it is an aid to playing.

Yeah... I think this thread would benifit the mq community better if it wasn't here.

I'm with you there LAX.

Now back to IDA, learning to find offsets and such is such a fugging pain, but I'm sure will be well worth it.
