Anyone else using this UI and the MQ2DPS window without problems or has anyone found a reason or solution yet?
I don't know if this will help, but I added a line in the equi.xml file that calls the xml file for MQ2DPS and it stopped causing me problems and loads fine now.

Nightshift:

What line did you add? It seems that one of the things that causes the problem is the Music Player window. For some reason, when it is loaded with a new window added - it finds all sorts of errors in the Music Player window.

However, I am interested in the line you have added if you'd like to share =D.

Im sure this is what Nightshift did. I did this and loaded the plugin and it didnt crash the UI. However, I cant get it to parse or calculate dps as of yet. I guess I need to fool around with the filters and such.

SirCodeAlot, If you get it working like it should before I do, please post your solution. Im sure it has to do with filters and your 2 seperate windows.

Code: Select all

<XML ID = "EQInterfaceDefinitionLanguage">
    <Composite>
	<Include>../default/EQUI.xml</Include>
	<Include>EQUI_ExtraAnimations.xml</Include>
	<Include>EQUI_ExtraTemplates.xml</Include>
	[color=red]<Include>MQUI_DpsWnd.xml</Include>[/color]
    </Composite>
    <Schema xmlns = "EverQuestData" xmlns:dt = "EverQuestDataTypes"/>
</XML>

You will probably have it before I do. It is odd - because I use the MQ2Timer and I have no problems with the filters. Anyway - I am working on some epic stuff for right now - so I probably won't get to this until later. So if anyone gets the solution before I do, by all means - please post it!

The 1600x1200 resolution uses the MQ2 chat window as a place holder. If you want this to look correct, be sure to edit the MQ2ChatWnd.ini, which is included in the zip file. You must change the line that says:

[YourServer.YourName]

To the correct name and server for your character. This INI must be placed in your MQ2 folder.
Ok, I found that and changed the info to match my server.charname saved and moved it to the MQ2 folder. It didn't work properly. I got a lot of unknown tags all over the place.

Now, please bear with me, I want to make sure I did this correctly.
Which is correct or does it matter...
[Luclin.Dumbuser] or [LUCLIN.Dumbuser]
I'm not sure if case matters for the server tag.

Next, you say place that ini in my MQ2 folder. I hope I am right in believing you mean the main folder where MQ2 resides, and not some other subfolder I haven't found yet.

This is my first day using this, and I'm trying to get a basic understanding.

The ui looks pretty good, and even if a lot of tags were not working, I found what I could use of MQ2 to be nice. It's quite different to know what something cons relative to your level without clicking on it, who a group leader is, etc. I'm sure I'm going to like this more and more as I learn to use it.

Yes, I am making use of the search function. Finding a few things of interest already. But I think working with one major thing at a time is enough.

It seems to me like you don't have MQ2 installed and running correctly. That is usually the cause of unknown labels. Make sure you installed it correctly and then try again. Also, I haven't tried differences in case for those config files, but I would stick to the norm (Luclin).

I'm at a loss then.

I read the readme on how to install it, and the post here on the boards and as far as I can tell I did it exactly as they suggested.

The MQ2 zip was unziped into directory c:\MQ2
Below that are all the subdirectories.
The actual compiled exe is in c:\MQ2\Release

Now, it is entirely possible that the folders are all screwed up because I didn't install winzip on this system yet (reloaded XP from formated disk up) and used the built in compressed folder tool to open it and extract it.

Could that be part of the problem?

aChallenged1 - your problem is likely not a UI one. I replied to your post in the general forum.

Saw that , and thank you Programmer. I did verify MQ2 is working using your suggested test; it is working properly.

Trying various things now. Found a post where it mentioned that the MQ2ChatWnd.ini belongs in the Release folder, where the instructions here say the MQ2 folder. Going to go try that and come back.

So far what I am sure of is that MQ2 is running, and some commands work. I do not see my MQ window ever.

Back soon with more information, or lack of it.

I am at a loss here. I'm going to remove the ui and start over and see what happens.

note: everything has a 'unknownlable9999' next to it, except spell gem 3 which says "UnknownUi"

EDIT: Found the problem.

If you ever think MQ2 is working, but a lot of features aren't, kill the entire directory, download the most recient version of the MQ2 from this site and go through the set up steps again from the start. Make sure that the 2nd to last step is not missed at all. If you miss ANY of the check marks something isn't going to work.

That was my problem, somehow I missed one or more items, but I didn't get an error code so thought I was good to go.

While targeting anything and turning away from it and running the /face command will prove MQ2 is loaded and running, it does not prove you haven't "screwed the pooch" on the compile.

I learned something new today. I'm one step closer to being a dunce than an idiot.

Lol - congrats aChallenged1.

Okay, now about the UI freakin' out with custom windows. The fix that Abrasive posted above does seem to repair most of the problems.

However, if you are still experiencing difficulty, I've also stumbled upon an odd problem. When the UI loads, it loads everything correctly, error free. But, when reloaded using a custom window (I was using MQ2Timer), the UI crashes with errors from the MP3 window. If you are still having problems after using Abrasive's fix, try renaming EQUI_MusicPlayerWnd.xml to something like EQUI_MusicPlayerWnd.soes so that it is ignored when loading and the default one takes its place.

So try:

1) The fix by Abrasive;

and if that doesn't work,

2) Renaming the UI window as described above.

There are bits of this I like and want to use in other UI's I have going. I tend to customize my UI's for the class played, and I typically have 6 to 8 chat windows up.

Right now, I am trying to figure out the compass window. I can't get it to show properly. I either get it totally clear and the compass bitmap shows in its entirety or I put it in Texture mode and can't see the compass at all, but can read all the rest of the data. Nothing in the UI_char_server.txt seems to help me there, or I just didn't find it. :oops:

Thanks for your time!

What exactly do you need to change? Do you want to make the compass window smaller - or change the texture? I am kinda confused. Just post what you want changed and I will tell you how to do it. If it is a good enough change, I might even use it on the UI that I post... Without your permission of course :cool: .

:lol:

The compass window in your ui streaches from one side of the screen to the other (I am using 1600x1200). Within your UI it shows the PNG of the compass properly with the rest of the bar across the screen as a solid color with the info imprinted ontop of it.

I thought I could just copy the compass file over, and so I did. It works and doesn't. the png shows where it is supposed to, but as you turn it moves but does not get hidden like it should.

[compass][rest of bar going across the screen with all data in it]

That is how it should look (semi graphical representation).

What I get is...
[compass nowrap showing in full][partial bar visible GM notify covered rest visible but hard to read on a clear background]
The red portion is where the PNG overlaps the rest of the bar. Not very useful like that.
