Compiling and Initiating MQ2 via dial up / ActiveX issues

TheWarden's walkthrough was informative but ultimately didn't work (VS.net issues), so I set up to attempt the other stickied process written by ascii38 but it requires massive downloads that would take ages on a phone line.

my issue with VS.net was with the virtual studio - it would open up and was just a blank white page - no windows opened to install ActiveX - so I assume if I could download that from an alternative source it would put me back on track. I did some searching and googling for alternative downloads for ActiveX and wound up with nothing.

it appears that recent posters have been using the method by ascii38 so perhaps my error isnt just unique to me, i'm aware that MS is to blame a lot of the time - so if anyone knows where I can obtain the ActiveX file it would be mucho helpful.
