well, after going through it, the difference is that the newer versions of mq use a lot more offsets than the older ones (yay im smart), so the options i see are:

- find all the offsets and structs i need from the older version so it works with the current code
- change or disable the functions so that it will compile without looking for the newer offsets and structs

also i dont know if this is an option, but is there a way to just disable the new structs/defines like, pointing them at specific memory address where they do nothing?

i think the most efficient way to accomplish what i want is to just learn how to integrate the mq2datavars into the older system with a limited functionality (don't have new offsets/structs for like guild etc)

either way it doesn't sound like something i can do... easily

any thoughts or ideas? :/

BeholdThePenguin wrote:To get it to work:

1. Download a CVS client, preferably a command line one since its less complicated to use.

2. run it and do this command:
cvs -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/macroquest login
just hit enter when it asks for password.

3. next do this:
cvs -z3 -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/macroquest co -D 2004-02-10 macroquest2
which will download all the source as of Feb. 10, 2004

4. Follow normal compile instructions for MacroQuest2 then edit the eqgame.ini that it dumps into the Release folder and make sure ClientOverride is set to 1.

5. Run MacroQuest2 and then WRPatcher and it will work fine.

Questions? Im beholdthepenguin on WR forums as well, and Luillend on WR itself.

*cheers*
I've been looking for a CVS client for another application. Could someone direct me towards one?

Thanks. Perhaps I should explain that I am looking for a CVS client (command line type) That was build with beginners in mind. My application of said program is as basic as copying and pasting commands like.

Quote:
cvs -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/macroquest login

From the poster above. Any suggestions on a suitable cvs client for the anti-power using type like myself?

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=& ... tnG=Search ?

Ok, I'll stop being a smart ass. I don't have any first-had experience with a free, easy, command line cvs client. I have used WinCVS before, but only because I had to for something specific. Someone else may be able to give you something better than a google search page link.

No worries man. I stepped into it. Any chance of you being able to explain how to get to the command line to paste commands like that in? I have installed around 3 CVS clients and thats where it ends for me. I am far behind the curve here.

I was just checking out the WInter's Roar website. A couple of friends (who also use MQ) were thinking about moving to WR so I looked into it.

Though the server is not official, it looks like they have a zero tolerance to "cheaters". Also, you can't do more than 2-boxing. http://www.wintersroar.com/rules.html

With server populations being low as they are, everyone will pretty much know everyone else. I don't imagine you'd be able to get away with nearly what you could on EQLive.

I'd hardly call using MacroQuest for adding functionality to a lacking EverQuest client cheating.
I think the way your friends (well, at least one of them) plan on using MQ is for simplify the task of 2 boxing. Not all of us 6 box unattended autopulling macros for a week straight. :P Also, if you've played on the WR server you know that the groups are disconnected every time you zone. This could be fixed with MQ.

The rules I linked for you to r33d, n00b wrote: 6 Do not use ShowEQ. If you are caught using ShowEQ or ANYTHING like it, you will be banned. No questions asked. If you don't know what ShowEQ is, don't worry about it. Trust us, it's not important and not worth the trouble it can cause.
7 Do not use third-party tools or clever manipulations of the client to in any way acquire knowledge you should not be privy to such as stats of items, locations or loot lists of mobs, or similar.
Perhaps I should have been more specific. I know you love MQ2Map as much as I do exim ;p. All I'm saying is that you probably can't get away with as much shit as you can on EQLive because A - you are one of few and B - you're not a paying customer so I wouldn't expect a warning. If I had a high level toon on that server, I'd be afraid to even macro a bazaar /ooc announcement to go off every hour lol.
