Guild Tags in new Captions

Post by magictiger » Thu May 06, 2004 7:18 pm

I've checked the help file and searched, but I don't see anything about this yet. Is there a way to put the guild tag on a line below the title, AA, name, etc?

The help file doesnt explain the captions in depth.
changes.txt does

May 4
- Added custom spawn captioning. Set them in MacroQuest.ini [Captions]. Empty the setting
to make it use EQ's default. By default our player caption is slightly different -
it shows their guild status if they are officer or leader of a guild. Pet captions are a
little different also - it will display the name of its master if it is a player's pet.
Use "\n" to mean a new line when setting captions.
May 5
- Plenty of positive feedback on the custom spawn captioning. Plenty also asking why shownames
was not working properly. There are now 4 levels of captions for Players, according to the
shownames level, to solve this issue. Therefore the ini options are now Player1, Player2,
Player3, Player4 rather than just Player. Also, the guild status indicator now
capitalizes Leader and Officer, and added a "LDR" tag to your group leader.
- Added /caption command to set the custom captions from in-game.
Usage: /caption <list|type <value>>
To clear the specific setting, just do /caption <type> like so:
/caption player1
if you missed it, \n is for newline
Here you go:

Code: Select all

${If[${NamingSpawn.Trader},Trader ,]}${If[${NamingSpawn.AARank},${NamingSpawn.AATitle} ,]}${If[${NamingSpawn.Invis},(${NamingSpawn.DisplayName}),${NamingSpawn.DisplayName}]}${If[${NamingSpawn.Surname.Length}, ${NamingSpawn.Surname},]}${If[${NamingSpawn.AFK}, AFK,]}${If[${NamingSpawn.Linkdead}, LD,]}${If[${NamingSpawn.LFG}, LFG,]}${If[${NamingSpawn.GroupLeader}, LDR,]}${If[${NamingSpawn.Guild.Length},\n<${If[${NamingSpawn.GuildStatus.NotEqual[member]},${NamingSpawn.GuildStatus} of ,]}${NamingSpawn.Guild}>,]}

Don't know how I missed the thing in changes.txt. Guess I was more tired than I thought when I looked for it last night :)

Thanks a ton!

Is it possible to have more than two lines for captions?
e.g.:
For Players
Line 1: TRADER|AFK|LD
Line 2: AAtitle|Name|Surname
Line 3: Guildstatus|Guildname

atm Line 1 and 2 would overwrite each other.

That would be quite nice....

Try it and see what happens ... just put a \n wherever you want the line break to be. It should work but who knows ... maybe the EQ engine will cut off one line (I kinda doubt it though)

I think the eq client is limited to just the 2 lines.

The reason is because EQ picks two points and the text is written, overlapping if necessary, between those two points. Like this:

Code: Select all

-------- top
    /\
     | enough space for 2 lines
    \/
--------- player head
It would take a lot more time to find out exactly how to change this to work the way everyone keeps requesting, but it "can" be done. It's just not located anywhere near the spots I'm working with.
