Donation page giving error: Lax has too much money...

Post by Kannkor » Fri Nov 03, 2006 10:24 pm

Click on the donate link on the main page, enter in my account ID, click on Make a donation to all the active dev's and it takes me to paypal.com and gives this error:

Error Detected

This recipient is currently unable to receive money.

Does this mean Lax's account has too much money in it..? :)
If other's aren't receiving this error I can post a screen shot...

For some reason, Paypal locked the account lax uses to handle mq2 donations. He is working on it.
Reading . . . it's not just for me.

PayPal has been on a mad spree lately. They've been getting a lot of grief from the U.S. money powers that be about matrix schemes and MLMs and blah blah blah. So any account that recieves or sense lots of "small' amounts is being reviewed.

They just don't happen to tell you its under review, they just lock it. They also don't provide customer support. Does this sound familiar? ;)

I had my account locked recently, without warning, and they froze a very large amount of money. A good while later, after a lot of mostly-failed attempts at contacting customer support, my account was suddenly released. Such is PayPal :(

Yeah, randomly after a few years of having the same account details, thousands of payments received, less than 20 chargebacks, they decide to lock it to "verify the company information". And there's nothing I can do about it besides wait for them to fix it.

Luckily my business switched paypal accounts just weeks ago, and the old paypal account is strictly for MQ2, so it's not killing me or my company financially.

So Lax, what can we do to get VIP status via donating for the time being? That is, if we wish to still donate to you rather than other devs and get the VIP status manually.

As you said, do we just have to wait for them to unlock your account. My only concern is that this will take...too long. I have a feeling that they are going to take their sweet time unlocking it.

Thanks.

And if there was a viable alternative I'm sure everyone would happily use it. Unfortunately, there's not.
