Tradeskill macro with Vendor capability?

Post by Masochist » Sat Aug 30, 2003 8:50 pm

Hello :)
My fiance' and I were talking about ways to make baking, smithing, tailoring easier on me, and he came across your site and made me an account so I could ask this. He has been playing EQ forever and got me into it, and I need something to help me with all those clicks. I just don't have the time to do it all by hand anymore.
Was curious what your experience has been with self sustaining macros involving vendors. I'm looking to do some tradeskill subcombines to save time / energy and was wondering what you would recommend. I'm looking for something that could sit at merchant and do combines / buying / selling for me to take the sting out of tradeskilling as my wrists get sore after a few minutes of mindless clicking. It would also have to cast Insight and Clarity on me when it wears off, or be able to enchant bars for me if I'm working on jewelcraft that day.
As far as the do-it-yourself approach, I would be hard-pressed to even compile MQ, but I'm trying to learn so that I could use what help I get here!

I'm sorry to bother you, and appreciate if you could take time to help.

I am not saying your fake but I have noticed a couple "females" coming to the board that seem to know nothing of MQ and are now asking for help. Tamera is another (or was it tanya) anyway... I just recently thought to myself what if this is someone just trying to get a walkthough and are really men... the old make a female char and people will help you.

I dunno anyway back to work.

Heya thanks for your criticism, this is the guy this time. I'm pretty convinced she's real, at any rate.
Treat her if she's me if it helps, neither of us know much about scripting/coding. Anyone have suggestions? We're both eager to see what can / is being done along these lines. Pretty fascinating stuff.

Not sure I understand the male/female delima ... either you wanna help someone or you don't. Shouldn't matter if you think their lump(s) are upstairs or downstairs - especially someone who announces they are not available :)

Anyhoo... Masochist, read through the boards. I think I remember seeing a macro posted that does pretty much what your asking. After learning how to compile MQ, keep reading and learn how to write your own macros ... that way you know exactly what the macro does or doesn't do.

aye... it doesnt matter to me I was just stating my curious thought hoping someone would put my concern to rest.

But it is proven that a female char in game is likely to get more handouts then a male char. I have friends that roleplay this all the time. I myself try to expect 99 percent of all female chars to be a man behind the screen anyway.

Yeah lil of both, I play male chars and she plays female chars, with exception of my female wizard which is on her account.

This may be too off-topic (delete if necessary) but, as my name implies, I'm curious:

What difference does it make if the lady you're grouped with is a man in RL (or vice-versa)? Does anyone ever arrange meetings in RL while playing EQ?

Even if the two of you go off to some abandoned zone for some cyber-sex, would it really make a difference?

The only thing that really bothers me is when I'm chatting with "Lady Sara" and she says, "You know, I'm really a guy!"

Sure, there's a bunch of tradeskill macros in The Macro Depot section of these forums. Just scroll down until you read one with "Tradeskill" in it's name.

Ever since the new UI I haven't seen a working copy of MQ that interacts with NPC venders. There probably is one out there (if I'm wrong here someone please correct me), but sadly you'll probably have to do the buying\selling yourself. The tedious clicking\combining however can be done 10x quicker with MQ, even with the new UI luckily :)

Casting clarity\insight on yourself is pretty easy, assuming your combines are not done with an outside environment object (kiln, forge, ect), if it does include an outside object you'll have to close it, cast it, open it again, which will make it a little more work. Again though a self-automated tradeskill macro typically has more errors than just a featured one... I personally suggest finding one premade to do all it can for you, then you be there to resupply\sell\recast when the times are needed.

There are tons of places to learn about tradeskills on this page, with a little searching you're bound to find lots of good information (even in compiling MQ)

Hope this helps.
