Bug: Macroquest.exe when camping macroquest hang's eq . Debu

Post by MegaHertz » Fri Aug 15, 2003 1:41 pm

While using hte debug version of MQ after you camp everquest is hung and you have ot forcifully close it.

Steps to repro.

start debugg version of MQ

Start eq

Log in

play for a bit

camp out

Expected reults:

That when you camp you are taken to the char selection screen and you see the char you were last playing spinning around.

Actuall results.

You are taken to the char screen and EQ hangs and must be forcially shut town via terminating the thread eq had spawned.

doesn't do that on mine... however, there's a random crash to desktop if you choose to reenter the game from that point

for me? using EQW... winXP pro... random crash to desktop on zoning back in from char select. If a macro is running when logging out and back in, it will NOT crash to desktop, and the macro will still be running when you log back in.

There are many issues with server 2k3 and EQ. Most of them are drivers related or memory leaks.

Just my 2 cents

I've always had good luck with EQ, however...

Recently the buggers have been crashing on camp, this only happens on the machines that MQ is running on and were running a script. I always stop macros before exiting.

It seems to be TIME related, ie: certain machines crash only if they have been running a macro for over an hour.

On the machines that dont run MQ, this has not been a problem. clearly its MQ and not the game, would someone look into this? Seems like a memory leak to me.

this seems to be the answer to your question... post the script, and I can tell you what makes it crash, you are most likely using one of the new commands that deals with buying and selling or selecting items, in a wrong way. I can write a macro that does crash, me but I can also accomplish thesame thing in a non crash way...

my theory is that if you buy or sell or select items faster than the server or client can handle, you will crash... there is a 900ms cap on combines as well, if thats what u are doing...

My scripts are bots, they do /face, key up up's and watch events, and doesnt do looting or anything complexed.

Also: Note that the scripts arnt running when the crash happens. My logout proceedure is this:

/stand
/delay 3
/sit
/camp desktop
/exit

As you can see, the script exits right after the camp command is issued, meaning the script hasnt even been running for at least 30 seconds by the time the crash happens.

That isnt consistant though, other times I have stopped the script and had been sitting around in a zone for 10-15 minutes, then camp by hand, crash crash crash. /camp and /camp desktop didnt matter.

/endmacro

Then camp. No real issue here.

Hmm... although something could be added to when you are not in any char that is in the world that it does an endmacro...

What is this, a rhetoric session? We cant fix the bug just "work around it"? Ignore the problem to make it go away? Shame on you, lazy.

If you'll re-read the post (its in english, not to hard) you'll see that THE FARKING SCRIPT ISNT EVEN RUNNING, for periods of up to 15 minutes, and MQ still crashes.

If you dont have a solution, dont be a moron and post just to get your counters up.

If you want technical support you can insult, go buy a commercial macro package that has the tech support phone number in the box. Otherwise, keep your attitude to yourself and have an ounce of patience when trying to resolve an issue. I haven't seen you cough up whatever script you're running that might be causing the problem so it's kinda tough for the dev team to reproduce it.

EQMule00 said on Friday he would try and find out which command your script is calling that is causing the crash.

And to make it simple for you (in english, not to hard). The commands IN YOUR SCRIPT WHEN IT'S RUNNNING cause the problem. Even when you unload the script. You've issued commands within your script that affect the current memory state. Either an improper use of a command or a sequence of commands is causing the issue. Without seeing the script, it's tough to troubleshoot the problem.

Even if he isn't ...

using the newer merchant commands, if he is using /goto commands to jump points and crossing subroutines, that would corrupt the local variable stack. Something like the following would cause memory corruption.

Code: Select all

Sub Subroutine1
:GoodLoop
some stuff happens
/goto :GoodLoop

:BadLoop
/call Subroutine2

/return

Sub Subroutine2
some stuff happens
/goto :BadLoop
/return

Not sure on the many part but I did experience one yesterday caused a hang. I havent really noticed memory leaks though. but I will look at it more closely :)

oh and the old cleric bot macro that grimjack wrote is one that causes this issue. I would post the macro but val would have a cow, and I did not make too many changes to it other then spell specific. Oh and one other change because autosit was broke ;)

*edit*

Below is the code i added to the macro.

Code: Select all

|||||||||||||||||||||||Personal Commands|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

   /varset a(1,26) hp

   ...

   /varset a(1,34) Blind

   /varset a(1,35) autosit

|||||||||||||||||||||||Personal Commands|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Add this sub somewhere at the end:

Sub Do-autosit

   /if n $strlen("$p1")<=0 {

      /tell $MasterName Autosit=$SitAfterCast

      /return

   }

   /if $p1=="off" /varset SitAfterCast 0

   /if $p1=="on" /varset SitAfterCast 1

   /tell $MasterName Autosit=$ SitAfterCast

/return
