yea yea ok well i would love to use this wonderfull program but before i down load it and then post a milloion questions on how to run it, is there any type of text or websites/info i could read up on before i attempt to use this? oh and not the read me file either heh i mean some kind of text that would enlighten me on code/macroing etc.

If you have something against the documentation, your only other option is to read through these forums. Since you figured out how to post, I will assume that you can search and/or browse threads randomly. Good luck avoiding the docs.

well it isnt that i am against the docs. files but i am semi retarded when it comes to comps i was hoping to read spomething that mgth help me more understand this prog and the doc. as well that was all bu thanks for your input i look forward to other's

unfortunatly, i would rate this program as very hard to get going, middle of the road to use in game, and much harder to script in. you need to use cvs (not an easy task in itself) just to get the source code. then you need visual studio (or visual c++?) to compile it. after that you can run it and eq, and play around with it. when you want to start scripting, you will need to learn both programming logic and the oddities of scripting in mq's scripting language. of course, you may also be able to copy/paste some of the scripts already written.

i dont think there is any one stop place for newbie friendly installation instructions and i think that was on purpose. mq has the high potential to draw lots of unwanted attention on itself while in the hands of certain types of people... and a majority of those types of people are probably not technically compitent enough to do all of the above. of course, this may exclude some people... but then... are they earning money or anything by helping others use it? not really.

0. Install visual c++ 6.0 or visual studio 6.0
1. download the zip from the downloads page
2. unzip it in C:\MQ
3. go to the newly created folder C:\MQ and DoubleClick the Macroquest.dsw file
4. It will open up in Visual studio.
5. Go to the menu called Build and click on it
6. On that menu go to Set Active Configuration click on it...
7. Set the active configuration to macroquest - Win32 Release and press ok
8. Go to Build menu again and click it.
9 Select Build macroquest.exe
10 you will get it compiled, then exit Visual studio
11. Go to the C:\MQ\release folder, and doubleclick macroquest.exe
12. Start everquest.
13 You are done.

Or take some programming classes, perl and 847598243 other languages share some common ....erm.... features?

After taking programming classes the functions of the code make sense... for me it's a matter of understanding the intricacies of perl as an individual language, aka. what all the different code commands are, stuff like that.

I learned all I needed to know about C++ from two places: merc MUD codebase and the O'Reilly publishing series on C++ programming.

It wasn't overnight either. I get irritable with people that expect us to hold their hand through things that took me YEARS to learn on my own. Spend about 8 months working on it by yourself and asking intelligent, SPECIFIC questions on the forum regarding what you're seeing...READ books and STUDY the programming websites on the Internet. *IF* you're still clueless then, ...well, this is probably not the best thing for you then :)
