New to all of this

Post by sarnack » Mon Jul 14, 2003 9:57 pm

Hello, hope everyone is doing well. Here it goes just a bunch of questions
from a new person. First off, what is MacroQuest? I guess it is more of a
two-part question. What is a macro? I hope that I am not bashed too much by
these questions. I find this program very interesting. What is the learning
curve of this program also? I do not consider myself the most intelligent
person. Therefore, I am hoping this is something I can grow into. What I am
looking for is for this to make my game experience more enjoyable. Am I
looking to the right place? For example from what I understand, this may be
able to automate some trade skills. If so, I think this would be a great
boon to the game since I consider this part of the game to be repetitive.
Another thing it looks like I can make some plat off this. I am not the kind
of person to abuse things. Therefore, I think this would be great asset. So
what are your feelings in general? Do you think this is something that can
help me? I appreciate any response. Have a good one.

Hello there! Welcome to the MQ Community..
Macroquest is an executable that attaches itself onto the eqgame and manipulates the memory if i'm not mistaken?

A macro is a "script".. It tells macroquest exactly what to do and it made up of subs, vars, timers, includes, and whatever you want really.. Check the macro depot for some already written and working on scripts.

To learn the code for me was fluent... but we all throw the baseball at a different speed, however given time and patience you will succeed in the code learning process, it's a fun expierence learning to code new things =)

Yes it can automate tradeskills but it is not advised to do tradeskilling while you are away from your computer, this can cause a problem if a gm is trying to contact you and you don't respond but continue moving about..

The whole plat idea is plausible, but many can't get a working script, or if they have keep it to yourself, I recommend if you in the future get a working one, tell no one, say nothing... That's where everything goes wrong, and as for me i'm up for a quick 5k of plat =)

yes I believe MQ could boost your gaming exp, and it could lower it.. depends on how you play..

Hope this helps in anyway =)

Thanks for the reply. Just a couple more questions. Is the download on the homepage the most recent version? I think I read some place I need to search through the threads. Is this true? Also which compiler would you say works the best for people?

to compile MQ you must have microsoft VS 6.0 or .net. You can probably find 6.0 pretty cheap on the web, or by other means... Once you get the compiler, read that thread posted above this one. It will take some patience if you're completely new to cpp, but is well worth it. once you get MQ working you can find more or less most of the commands here http://macroquest2.com/readme.php

mq may be daunting at first, but if you want a great program that will make eq so much more enjoyable, don't give up.
