differentiating among 3 spawns

given 3 mobs in front of you. one is a merchant, one is a quest npc, and one is a mob. is there a way to use ${Spawn} or something to tell the difference? i am working on a way to mez mobs, just part of my learning, and i end up mezzing all 3 of those above. i am just testing of course, and i've seen all the macros and even checked plugins, but didn't see anything clearly indicating that there is a method to tell the difference. i could use ${Spawn[xxx].CleanName.Find[Merchant]} perhaps, but those quest npc's don't have 'quest npc' in their name :-) . i see where i could do ${Spawn[xxx].Trader} to determine if it is a trader. ${Spawn[xxx].Merchant} would be cool, or even a ${Spawn[xxx].QuestNPC} if there's a way to tell that. i was just curious is all and maybe this already is available and i have overlooked it.

The method I use to detect is this:

1. Group member is hit (#events) by ${mobname}
2. I add all mob IDs within a certain range and line of sight by that name into an Add array

Everything I do offensively (tank, CC, nuke, melee) uses that array as its foundation.
