a Question about Faction...

Post by EqMule » Sat Apr 26, 2003 6:46 pm

has anyone found it? could it be part of the targetstructure or even charinfo, or is it in its own memlocation somewhere... anyway let me know if you have ANY insight at all, even qualified quesses would be great...

Code: Select all

enum FACTION_VALUE {FACTION_ALLY = 1, FACTION_WARMLY = 2, FACTION_KINDLY = 3, FACTION_AMIABLE = 4,
                        FACTION_INDIFFERENT = 5, FACTION_APPREHENSIVE = 9, FACTION_DUBIOUS = 8,
                        FACTION_THREATENLY = 7, FACTION_SCOWLS = 6};

Would be awesome if we somehow could get numerical value of your faction. Is that possible or is it kept on server? If not, perhaps this can help finding it. I researched factions alot using this quest:
http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=611.
Assuming faction for 1 muffin is smallest faction adjustment, I made the list over how long each faction is:

ready to attack: No fixed length. Bottomed out is 2000 hits below starting faction for your class/race/diety.
threathningly: 250
dubiously: 400
apprehensively: 100
indifferently: 100
amiably: 400
kindly: 250
warmly: 350
ally: No fixed length. Maxed out is 2000 hits above starting faction for your class/race/diety.

numeric values of faction ranges are no longer sent, they used to be, which is where those #'s you quote came from.

hmm well yes "numerical" faction has been long gone, but I wonder where in memory the NEW "numerical" value is stored or ends up upon request, like when you press c to consider... the client sends a "the user wants to know his faction on <targeted mob> and server responds by sending a message back saying your faction is "6" with that mob for example..., see my post for what I "think" is being sent, remember showeq used to or still does show you a number that corosponds to your faction... I just wanna know where that "6" ends up in memory...

I think 6 means FACTION_SCOWLS by the way...

I didn't get those numbers from them being sent previously. I turned in thousands of muffins and made that list :)

I hoped the list could help you find the values in memory, but guess not if they are not being sent anymore :(
